Excellent Small Win @JanC , way to stick with it. My determination in the face of challenge has never failed to yield a healthy dividend. You just reinforced that notion! Thanks.

@AntPagan_ Try Light strings or Extra lights if you don’t mind giving up a little tone and volume. You could also lower the tension of your strings by tuning down 1 whole step (DGCFAD) and capo 2nd fret. This works really well if your setup is on the high side. It puts your strings closer to the fretboard. Hang in there…it only hurts for a little while.

    Extra lights are 10- 47’s

All sounds good @NW7 , Try strumming on beat 1 & 3 and take the full 2 and the 4 beat to make your change. As you make the change focus on the fluidity of motion in your fingers and hand. Do this at a speed where you can do it without tension and where you have precision accuracy. Once you spend some time in that relaxed place with precision accuracy crank up your speed but only a little, until achieve that same state and then crank it up again….and so on….and so on. Never chase speed…sneak up on it methodically.

Metronome was hard for me at first. It has become my most valuable tool.

@Schroder , I totally relate to what you are saying. I had similar sentiments earlier in my journey. An experience player told me I would just hear what chord is coming next and go to it without even thinking about it. I thought that was far fetched. It wasn’t. It took time so determination was my best ally. Stay determined, go through with the effort of trying to memorize and keep the joy of playing in the forefront on your consciousness. As one smart player said, “Keep it light, keep it fun.” You are building connections between your fingers, ears, and brain every time you pick up and play.

Nice Win @WAMGOC , I gotta ask: what was your mindset? Did you start out determined or did your determination build? What was your source for hanging in there until you got it?

@Freedom2ignite , I am done with the lesson after 10 focused minutes of playing That is when I smash the “Mark Complete” button. Do I go back to the lessons? I do. I use them as a way to advance my playing especially the Monday warmups. Those I will do everyday of the week they are presented. By the end of the week I have them memorized. All of the lessons work in conjunction with different aspects of training but I really benefit from working out any tension I hold in mind/hands doing those Monday exercises.

It helped me develop better rhythm initially and kept me more relaxed. No need to up the tempo until that relaxed fluidity begins happening. Playing without tension allowed me to increase speed at a pleasantly surprising pace. Mess around with it, see what you think.

The way I read your description you strum 4 down strokes and change on the “&” ready for the next downstroke on 1?

Same tempo you will have twice the changes but change more slowly. Less strumming as no strum on the change.

Hi @CamboNo5 , on the left side bar there is a button that looks like music notes, that takes you to the Skills Section. There in the Skills Section is a tutorial for “Daily Stretch For Guitar”. This is a great place to start! Stretch to feel the release not to feel the stretch.

It just seems to work right? And I forgot to say how much I like this little nugget-

@mkjohnsons said : “Keep it light, and keep it fun!” I am gonna put that one up there with “Expectation is where fun goes to die”

We all help each other. It’s part of TAC magic.
