That is great strategy @OwenGL , eventually you will take the feel of single notes to your chords as touch develops and chords won’t be so taxing. I remember at the beginning I had to squeeze so tight to get clarity. In time I learned how to apply pressure judiciously and precisely to get the sound I was looking for. A good amount of that touch development happened while playing scales and exercises. It was a while before I realized the bar for a Bm chord really only involved two strings and with simple adjustment I could use way less energy applying force where needed for chord clarity. Basically I figured out my index finger acting as a bar did not need to take on the role of a capo. Pressure could be adjusted depending on which strings my Index finger bar was needing to effect.

@AMPSweeney this is indeed a win to celebrate. So many ways to play. Glad you found a way to make the sound you want!

@Tahoejamz the cool thing with this, everytime I come around to an old exercise something new seems to fall into place as a result of the months of playing I got under my belt in the between time. Nice small win and kudos to you for recognizing it.

Loving this @Lange22 , it gets better and better. My nephew (age 9 years)wrote a poem in school and recited it live for an open house. My sister took video of it and sent it to me. I was so moved I put music to it an sang it back to him on video. He thought that was the coolest thing but for me it was way beyond cool, it was some of the most powerful magic ever. You keep playing for those guys!

Sounds like you liked it when you played it. That is a huge plus. I don’t know about these specifically. I have had one of their Jasmine models and found it just right for the money. Do you have any specific concerns? One of my big concerns early on was figuring out if I was paying the right price (for example).

Hi @ssturtevant1@gmail.com , welcome to TAC. I have the minority opinion here but I encourage you to begin the habit of playing with the daily lessons (just 10 minutes). These can be done at a most basic level so even the beginner can find a daily success. You may only get to one string on the monday lesson or maybe only first four notes of the tuesday lick or playing the root note of the key in time on the Wed. scale/solo lesson or Dead strumming in time on the Thursday Rhythm lesson. Hopefully you get the idea. One of the reasons this is so powerful is you are developing an simple habit you don’t even need to think about. You will be exposed to the whole gamut of music. Take little bites at first and as you continue you will be able to take bigger bites. If you struggle put it out there in the forum and you will likely be well supported. You can also comment or ask questions within the structure of the Daily Lesson. Give it a go and see what you think. No harm no foul.

@dr_dave said: “Learn what you need when you need it, and accept that the johrney is long, with many stepping stones and choices.”Yes. Pick a stone and leap. The hardest by far is the first one.

I don’t use the rubber heads on my hand, I use the foam head. The rubber heads were too jarring for my hand.

I have to mention another thing my physical therapist introduce me to: Theragun. It is a great tool for helping to relieve tension in hands and forearms.
