WOW! Huge number Huge win! I look at that and I am inspired … let’s 1400 session that just under 1000 more for me … that’ll take me until I’m … mmmmm … 75 or so. Something to keep me going and having fun. Thank you for sharing and helping me to keep “challenging” myself.

and AMEN, Let me say, IMO, FW2 is the most concise, comprehensive, and understandable presentation of music theory from a “guitar specific” perspective I’ve seen. I had trouble sticking with FW1 when I first tried it but found the flow of FW2 much more natural. I did my first run through, without interruption (light bulbs going off EVERYDAY!) and have since repeated various sections ad-hoc and somewhat randomly … and it’s still lighting things up each time I look at it. For me it’s the most significant part of the TAC journey.

OK two things today – first – for challenges in the current month – select Daily Challenges from the menu on the left, that brings up the Today’s Challenge screen for whatever day it is, when you select the “Start Challenge” button the menu will change to show all the Challenges for the current month (and you can then select any Challenge – IN THE CURRENT MONTH.

second – for challenges from PREVIOUS month’s you will only be able to retrieve the previous month challenges if you selected AND MARKED that challenge “Favorite” in the month while they were current. So, BEFORE the end of last week of a month’s sequence (and to be clear for April ’23 – that’s today) be sure to mark any sessions you might want to go back to as a “Favorite”. Otherwise you’ll have to wait until the set of challenges come around, again.

This seems to a problem for many newbies (myself included, back in the day). It’s not emphasized in the description of the challenges and lot’s of folks miss out on saving something they think will automatically be available for retrievable.

    Hope this helps.

Aloha Trevor – don’t feel all alone, after you follow these forums for a while you’ll realize all guitar geeks experience “the wall”. You’re taking a good (and recommended approach), go back to what you’ve done, maybe shake it up some. As you look at it, you see how much better you are in this short amount of time. Just recently part of my wall was not being able to pick up new songs from tabs, so I started playing Challenges from tabs, first, then going to the “play” video to see what I did well, THEN going to the “learn” video to see what I could do better. Incidentally, those are the two categories I evaluate after every session. Remember patience and practice make for progress, not perfection. And, you’re always well served by remembering to have fun on the journey.

Aloha Gordon, Under the Skills Courses you’ll find a Getting Started category, which gives a brief introduction of the lesson group (and recommend order) and access to all 6 courses (some of which your already doing (be sure to take your small win for that). I found early on I benefited from at least walking through the Daily Challenges each morning, but then focusing on the Getting Started stuff until I completed them. That way, I established my routine, learned the basics quickly and saw interesting stuff to go back to later (and Daily Challenges do come around again). But remember to always keep the “having fun priority” and that practice make progress (whether you realize it when it’s happening or not).

Aloha Anne – your post reminded me that I’m a smoker and quitting was easy, I did it hundreds of times … until I did for good. Long time ago, but it’s still a work in progress. Learning guitar, for me, was much the same. Just do it daily, make it personal and reward yourself daily, do it for the joy it brings YOU, and guess what – you do end up learning along the way. The “longer” the way, the more you learn.

Aloha Barry, Not sure I’ve ever seen anything specific, but these work for me: FP – finger pick, FLP – flat pick, WU Warm Up (also great for dexterity), KC – Key & Chords. You’ll also frequently see Key designations spelled out (i.e. C, Dm, E, etc.) Hope that helps.

I know this approach with some people, but I always remember that “in fourteen hundred and ninety-three Columbus sailed the deep blue sea”. Must be one of those “right brain – left brain – no brain” issues. I guess I should just accept the group I’m in.

Aloha from the Big Island. You might want to complete all of the courses the Learn the Basics category first Specifically the 5 Day Guitar Routine is designed to help you get the most out of the daily challenges. And you might broaden your base of knowledge and skills with the Six Chords and Strumming Jumpstart. They’re stand alone, go pretty quickly, and might be a good start to move you along toward your goals. BTW, Welcome Aboard!!

Let me take this chance to offer kudos to “Support”, worked with them recently and it was GREAT! Very competent, very thorough, and like most this TAC stuff, turned out to be a lot of fun, too. The front-end course stuff is well worth the price of admission, it’s nice to know they’re not ignoring us on back-end. Mahalo nui loa (thank you, very much) to Victoria

Aloha Steve, thanks for the correction, went back in and confirmed my error (short term memory, the second thing to go … I don’t remember what the first thing is). My apologize to anyone who may have suffered a panic attack, and I hope it serves in the future as a “Favorite”s reminder – early and often is the best strategy.
