    Hi Kitman

In the 2 1/2 or so years since I joined TAC I’ve only had an issue with posting once or twice. That was because I switched from the TAC site to do other tasks on my PC. For some unknown reason I got logged out of TAC while it was in the background while I did some other tasks. The TAC screen that I had left was still visible and editable but not active for posting. I simply logged back in and picked up where I left off. As a side note I’ve been using Microsoft’s Edge browser since I joined and have not had any issues with TAC’s websites, old and new.

Hi the-old-coach. I just wanted to add my two cents to your question. I opted to sign up for the fretboard wizard course when I first joined TAC a little over two years ago. In my opinion it’s a great course and well worth the money spent. I hope I don’t get thrown off of TAC for divulging any state secrets but I’ve tried to show you the layout of the course. I pasted the layout into the response window, I think the formatting will be removed when I post. If they are the main course sections are numbered and the topics covered follow. Each section and every topic has multiple video lessons with downloadable materials. Personally I had learned basic music fundamentals and how to read sheet music more than 55 years ago, a few years before I started to play guitar, and was surprised at how much I learned from the course. It’s a very comprehensive and easily understood introduction to the basic parts of musical compositions all centered around the guitar fretboard. Learning section 2, finding a song’s key by ear, was worth the price of admission for me. —————————————————————————————

    1 —— Foundational Five has 6 topics

    The Musical Alphabet

    The Major Scale Formula

You’re pretty much got it done now. I remember it took a lot of clicking around and reading just to set up the YouTube channel.

I went to my channel and refreshed my memory about it. I went through the steps to find the URL – the YouTube address of a video. I did these steps on my Windows PC. I am connected to my channel and to TAC so I can easily paste from one to the other. I hope it helps.

    Go to your YouTube channel.

Go to YouTube Studio and click on the Content icon. (under ID picture on the left side)

Find your uploaded video and move your mouse over it.

Click on the Details icon that pops up ( looks like a pencil).

A Video Link to your uploaded video will appear on the details page.

Copy the link (right mouse while over link – – – select copy from popup menu (in Windows) )

You can paste the link directly into any TAC discussion or post.

Hi Regis , welcome to TAC. Great advise so far. I just wanted to suggest that you look at the <b style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit;”>Your Next Six Chords Skill course. It’s a very basic course but Tony shows some good basic ways to learn and transition to a chord. You could use those methods to learn chords that you are interested in. If you add a D major chord to your skill set you will be able to play House of the Rising Sum, pretty much the first song I learned when I first started my guitar journey a around the same time you did. It’s nice and slow so the changes come pretty easy.

    Hi cuz, welcome to TAC.

I’d suggest that you hit the daily challenges for the recommended minimum of ten minutes a day. You shouldn’t be concerned that any one of them are above you. Many of them are above most of us especially at higher speeds. The challenge makes you a better player. I’ve been doing the daily’s at TAC for over 18 months now and find that most of them are a challenge. You might want to look into taking the fretboard wizard course, there’s a lot in there that will improve your musical knowledge in relation to the guitar fretboard. I know my playing has improved doing this. I used to just play along with midi files I found on the internet for fun. Now I find it’s even more fun, hitting the right notes much more often, figuring out the key of the song and the chords that could be played with it. Have fun and enjoy your TAC membership.

I’m with you OC. I’ve been playing a 3 finger G for over 50 years now, the first tine I say a 4 finger G was when I joined TAC. After a year and a half now I can’t transition to a 4 finger G. I’ve tried but I always grab it with 3 fingers automatically. They both sound good enough for me.

Hi handlebarmike welcome to TAC. When I first joined TAC I jumped right into the daily challenge lessons. I wasn’t a beginner either and wanted something challenging to stimulate my interest in playing again. I went through the 30 day challenge over time when I had the chance to. Some parts I found very helpful and educational. I did follow the entire course outline and marked sections complete as I went so that I would know where I left off. Some sections I just glanced at but I did do all the exercises. I didn’t spend 30 hours at it and spread any time I spent on it over a few weeks. I did the same with many of the interesting skill courses that are available.

Hi Sofshu. I’m a retired civil engineer and have a totally different take on tracking time. I haven’t tracked anything since I joined TAC about 15 months ago. I know for sure that my playing ability has improved since I started and my knowledge of the fretboard and music theory has greatly expanded. I’ve attempted all of the daily lessons and my initial completion criteria was the 10 minute minimum on each. Now I spend as much time as I need to complete the lesson or consider it complete when I cannot meet the challenge. I want to improve my guitar playing skills while having some fun, it’s not a job that requires a progress schedule for me.

  • Click on the Kicking Rocks(FLP Medium) title block in the upper left hand corner of the page and you will get another page with the tab download.

I too have a feeling of loss of a community atmosphere. I was a TAC member for about 11 months and had just about figured out how to navigate the site before the website changed. I do like the new daily lesson presentation layout but they too have reduced capabilities from the original pages. I still offer an occasional comment but feel that the comments and discussions previously were much more community based. I joined TAC to improve my own playing abilities and know it will still do that so I’ll stick with it. I was a website developer for a large government agency and went through a few site upgrades. Usually the new site is a whole lot less that the original. The first version of the site is a labor of innovation and caring while only economics drives the upgrades. The good thing though is that anything can be changed.
