    Hi! I just joined yesterday. I had a chance to review the 30-day challenge this morning. I am not a total beginner at this and I think I can skip over some sections of the 30-day challenge, such as building a chord library, tuning my guitar… Stuff like that. I will certainly be doing other sections that sound like they will help me break out of the rut I’m in. Is it advisable in that situation to “shorten” the 30-day challenge to say, 15 days? Thanks, I really look forward to interacting with others in the community!!!

    Hi @handlebarmike , Welcome to TAC. Hope you have a wonderful guitar journey here🎸 I had been “dabbling” with guitar for 45 years until I started TAC. I did the 30 Day Challenge in about 6 days. (I’m retired, so I could spend as many hours per day as I wanted, until my wife got home from work). I went through every lesson video, wether I knew the subject matter or not, and marked them complete as I went along. That way when I came back to the course each day, it would take me to the point where I left off. I also did all the exercises – I highly recommend doing them, at a minimum, it helps you to get acclimated to the site. Doing all the exercises also helped me to identify things that I needed to work on in my journey. Have fun Mike, it’s your journey, enjoy it however you feel👍

    Welcome to the TAC community @handlebarmike ! You can take as much or as little time on the 30 days to play challenge.

    I would recommend doing all the sections. Even if it’s a read through. I know I skipped a lot but ended up going back and redoing them all. It doesn’t take long and I think it’s worth it.

    Hello @handlebarmike ;

    I like the question. I like that you asked the question. Just this past week in the Acoustic Tuesday Show, Tony said “the only stupid question is the question you don’t ask”. I think you have gotten some good replies. I would like to add my 2 cents.

    The direct answer to your question is yes, it is totally acceptable for you to shorten the 30 Day Challenge. I think many of us with years of previous experience who choose to take the course and not skip it entirely did go through it much quicker than 30 days. And my absolute beginners need to spend more than 30 days.

    There are 2 difficulties in not at least watching each video. One is that you don’t get that section marked complete and the tracking system shows you as being incomplete. That’s very easy to fix. You don’t have to watch the video to simple hit the “mark complete” button. The other one is interesting. Many times, Tony says something even in the basic lesson videos, that were an interesting insight I had not heard or read before. I ended up listening to all the videos. But hey, I think it’s completely up to you. This program is set up so that everyone can do it in their way and their time. There are no “wrong” ways to do it.

    There is one rule, however: HAVE FUN!! 😂😎

    Hi handlebarmike welcome to TAC. When I first joined TAC I jumped right into the daily challenge lessons. I wasn’t a beginner either and wanted something challenging to stimulate my interest in playing again. I went through the 30 day challenge over time when I had the chance to. Some parts I found very helpful and educational. I did follow the entire course outline and marked sections complete as I went so that I would know where I left off. Some sections I just glanced at but I did do all the exercises. I didn’t spend 30 hours at it and spread any time I spent on it over a few weeks. I did the same with many of the interesting skill courses that are available.

    Hello! I. just started the 30 day challenge today. Been playing for 52 years be ear, chord books, and instinct. Tony just gave me what I have been lacking – STRUCTURE!

    It may be a bit humbling, but I needed to have someone tell me about posture, the arch in the fingers for fingering, how to hold a pick properly, and “Eddie Ate Dynamite, Good Bye Eddie”.
