Isn’t the great, @OhWowMan ? I love that TAC keeps track of that for us. It really helps us to see the effort we really are putting into this, one penny at a time.

Hey @GerryB56 , it sounds like you are finding you way past the first mental road block. There’s nothing actually in your way, it’s simply an optical illusion. So good for you. Now you can get back to doing what we all do, focus on what you like. Keep making sound on your guitar that gives you pleasure and put some time into improving in the areas you are interested in.
Turns out, no one can play or know everything on the guitar, no matter how good they are. So many different styles and ways to play. But you have your own unique sound, so work that. And have fun.

I’ll leave this guy to you and anyone else who enjoys his open tuning slide playing. Not my cup of tea.

LOL, @Mrfredsporty , ok, I’ll give him another listen. He is a character and he is very good on the guitar. I really don’t like fast playing, so I like that he is big on choosing the right note and playing slowly enough to hear what the notes are. I’ll let you know what I think about “Cocaine Blues”.

You’re very welcome @Cadgirl . It is very helpful to see how others go about making the guitar sing. 😎

MemberJuly 16, 2022 at 9:05 am in reply to: Using the 5 Day Guitar Routine with last weeks Double WhammyNice, I like that. Always remember, you don’t have to hold full barre chord shapes when finger picking. If there is any string or strings you are not going to pick, then maybe you can find a way to “cheat”. Finger picking songs usually don’t use full barre chords. I do a lot on my own songs because I use finger picking patterns, so I tend not to skip any strings.
Anyway, I’ll look forward to hearing your song. And I am going to post my Music Theory on YouTube. I’ll put a link on JMG, but not here. That would be conflict of interest. But I’ll be sure to let you know when it’s posted if you want to watch.

I never heard of Booker T and MGs, but I looked them up. Here’s an old video of them opening for Fogerty and CCR back in 1970. It’s totally fascinating how they could take this little melodic motif and turn it into a 5 minute song that doesn’t even have lyrics. And it looks like they are still together. Thanks again for another great tip.
Well, it looks like I have to edit what I said. First, though I never heard the name, I have heard their music literally thousands of times. Another example of studio musicians who created a certain sound that was associated with a recording studio. Also, the members have gotten together a number of times over the years, but they didn’t really “stay together” per se.

MemberJuly 15, 2022 at 12:21 pm in reply to: Using the 5 Day Guitar Routine with last weeks Double WhammyThat’s what you think, @Cadgirl , but every time you look at the list your eyes will see more than you are consciously aware of. That’s why it’s so important for the list to be in the order that exists in the music we play, not simply some arbitrary, intellectual list of 7 things we can’t tie together and could never remember.
Anyway, I thank you for this little discussion. I have added some charts to the material I am going to present in my “Music Theory from the Beginning” video series.

Hey @Levi ;
Thank you so much. Yeah, I know, it seems like an open ended thing, that thank you. Well, it is. Just thank you for all the wonder that you have added to my guitar journey since I began TAC.
The best is always worth waiting for. I know you guys have been super busy the last year. And I know that you and Tony wouldn’t release anything less than the absolute best you could make. And I know that TAC is already the best site out there.
But you guys keep exceeding expectations. You said this new platform was going to be better. Well, this new platform really is the fulfillment of the promise given in the marketing videos. This new platform keeps us on track to set and reach goals we never even knew existed.
And now, this latest promise, is once again, more than I could have imagined. But it’s perfect and right in line with the philosophy of TAC. I have become some what of a “theory geek” and I am excited to see how you have integrated the amazing approach toward theory into our daily routine. All the knowledge in the world is worthless if we can’t make it come out through our fingers onto the fretboard.
Thank you, Levi and Tony, for your vision to help other guitar geeks. And thank you for how much that has already fueled our guitar journeys. And thank you for continuing to improve your instruction and guidance so we can continue to improve our guitar journey.
