Excellent job, @Philb . I really appreciate the humorous outlook in the song. I also like the rhythmic variation you put in with the stops and guitar percussion. It was really enjoyable and fun.

    So, @LMG_73 ,

I’m fairly late to this party… ok, really late. I didn’t read everything by everyone else, I jsut read all your posts to get up to speed. There’s a lot of great info here as the community, and the people commenting, know a lot about this subject.

My 2 cents, given what you have, what you want to do, buy a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 or 4i4. I tried another budget AI from a very reputable company. Focusrite has the best and widest compatibility. Yeah, there are better out there if you need and/or want and you’re willing to spend the money. But if you want an inexpensive AI, a regular AI, just go straight to Focusrite. Don’t waste your money finding out about the issues with other AI’s. (Getting the right driver, for one.)

    Anyway, that’s what I think.

Yes, definitely, @Kitman . I am getting my process down. I’m also getting better at my general musical skills and it’s getting easier to sing the melodies I come up with. Anyway, thanks so much for the insightful comments.

Thank you, @stevieblues . Yes, I did work very hard on this song. But then, I usually do. I put in whatever it takes to make a song become what I had intended.

Thank you for listening and commenting.

Thank you Darren @Moonhare . I have so many songs that need to get written. I’m picking the ones that want to get out the worst cause I may never be able to write them all.

Very common advice among songwriters is just crank the songs out because 95 out of 100 are going to be junk, then 4 are going to be good, and only 1 out of 100 is going to be great and maybe make you money.

Sorry, it simply doesn’t work that way. Life doesn’t follow statistics. Statistics follows life, but that’s not all that helpful. Every song I write is good because I DON’T just punch them out. Each one takes what it takes. It’s a work of love.

I just read a quote by Steve @Maydog . I was familiar with the principle, but had never heard it worded this way. “Bad things happen fast. Good things happen slowly.”

And I also thank you for the encouragement about taking my own advice. Super important. I was surprised that I wasn’t getting frustrated, but I really enjoy this song. And I am very happy and satisfied with all my small, handful of songs. But this one may be the one I like to play the most… so far. Even over Joy Through the Seasons.

Wow, I missed that one, @the-old-coach . I just responded to @LMG_73 . His post was over a year ago. Then I read your post which said “dredge up this post” and so I looked at the date. Yikes.

Again, unless you want to do real mixing like @branman does, buy a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 or 4i4. Then, you have lots of options from there. You can start with maybe the best $100, all around mic, the Audio Technica AT2020. And that would do it for the start. Well, you’ll need a mic cable and some kind of mic stand or mic arm.

I’ll check back tomorrow to see if you have more questions or if others have replied.

Thank you so much, @Kitman . It seems difficult for me to judge my own performances or original songs. So the support is very helpful. And I tend to listen to the video again when someone makes a comment, which also helps. Every time I hear this, the more I like it.

    Thanks,

First, thank you for the support and kind words, @albert_d .

But second, that was an interesting comment. I used to live at Lake Tahoe, which is at 6200 ft. in the mountains. Every winter, some people would complain about the snow and having to shovel your way out of the driveway of put on chains. And I used to think (sometimes I’d say it to them, but it’s kinda harsh), if you don’t like snow and all that goes with it, why are you living in the mountains?

I’m gonna continue here, cause this might be fodder for another song. So, I get it that most people couldn’t afford a house in the Bay Area and another at Tahoe (though I did work for people like that). But hey, apparently the choice these people are making is that living in the mountains for 3 seasons is SO wonderful that it’s worth putting up with the 4th season. Ok, recognize that and focus on the wonder of the coming spring or the fun of last summer. Run beautiful memories or sweet anticipation through your mind as you are mindlessly shoveling snow. Just a thought. 😎

Ok, so thanks again, Albert. And thanks for stimulating those thoughts. I’m gonna save them. The next song in the “chute” is called “The Choice”. This could be a verse.
