I have a practice routine where I play the lessons for 10 mins or so. But I do that every day over about 5-6-7 different days. So- every day, I move that day’s- (new)- lesson “in”, and move the “oldest”- (5 or 6 days old)- “out”. An “out with the old, in with the new” thing.

Only issue is that at the very first part of a new month- (since TAC’s upgrade)- I can’t find out how to get (back) to the previous month’s lessons I haven’t “completed” yet- (my 5-6 days routine). So I have been either printing those out- (the ones from the end of “last month- that are no longer available)- and practicing off the printed sheets), or “favoritizing” and accessing them that way. Either way works.

To refer back to your issue- occasionally there is that one lesson that comes to me really easily- and I put my 10 mins in on that one maybe only 3-4 days. Kind-of throws the “progression” out of whack a bit- but no big deal.

You can “mark” a lesson complete any time you want to.

You can also simply go “back” to any this month’s lesson you haven’t yet completed just by clicking on it- (left-side column weekly schedule of lessons). That’s how I get- (back)- to the lessons that are still in my “rotation-mill” setup. You can also go back and get lessons you’ve already marked “complete”.

I guess I don’t really know what that “Please go back and complete….” means. I saw it and wondered what it was- but it doesn’t seem to affect how I TAC- so no biggee.

Maybe this rambling helped- there are much smarter folks in here.

When will it be offered next, anybody know?

I thought I read once that it was only in Fall and Winter(?)

If so, that’ll give me more time to “get ready”

Thanks for all the great advice and reasoning. It makes all the difference.

Looks like that boulder I’m pushin’ up the hill might get a little bigger!

Congrats on your wins- all good!

This won’t get you the video- but I do what others have said– I print the lesson (tab) and them keep them all in a 3-ring binder.

Works fine at my level- and I don’t need my computer if I just want to play some old lessons just for practice. Also gives me easy access to some old favorites to use them as “warm-up exercises”. Also if they’re printed out, I use the paper page to make notes on.

For me anyway, Rope Climb was not as challenging as Sit and Reach, but they are both getting “better”.

    Again- congrats!

Thank you all for kind encouraging words!

Reminds me that maybe I’m not lost after all!

Really cool to me how we– “each other” keeps “each other” going sometimes- (man does that sound dumb….)

    Thanks again. Mark J.

This is a great thread, hits the nail on the head. It does feel great when you’re “lost in the music”. Pure enjoyment.

    Cherie- thank you!

Sounds like the FW course is very involved- and maybe difficult at least at the start- especially to those of us who have little-to-no real music knowledge, and no music experience outside of putzing around for years- or- (for some- like me- for decades).

But I think once we get our feet wet in it- it’ll be fun indeed!

I always remember- Tony, TAC, and our whole community here, are all pullin’ for us!….. they want us to succeed !

I can’t wait to be able to sign up and get into it!— (but wish there was more info forthcoming about when it’ll become available to join again).

As I mentioned- I’m gonna start the Foundational course probably the first part of next week.

Thanks again for being another person wonderin’ about the FW course being “too tough”.

    Bill–

I actually just “found” the Foundations course yesterday! I’m almost done on the Fingerpicking Jumpstart course— the Foundation Course is where I’m headed next!

I think you can work on any lesson from the present month any time you want to- because they are still in “the list” on the column on the left. Whether they are marked “complete” or not.

Example- go to today’s lesson (Wallflower).

Below the picture you see the warning you first mentioned- (the “Please go back…..” message-box).

But– then click on yesterday’s lesson- “High School Prom”– and it comes back up just fine- whether you’ve completed either one of them– or neither– or both…. Even if you have “completed” a lesson, you can still go back and get any “un-completed” lesson from the list no problem. You can also go back and click your “completed” lesson and it also will come back just fine.

I don’t think it necessarily matters to “the Program” what you’ve marked complete or not- maybe it’s just a way for you to keep track of it.

I believe you can mark the complete whenever you want to- in whatever “order” you want.

Please- group- set me straight if I have this all wrong!

I do wish they would keep the last-month’s lesson around for a week or two so I wouldn’t have to print ’em out or “favoritize” them- (just to access them)-, because the day the new-month’s lesson’s show up– last month’s are <b style=”font-style: italic;”>gone. (at least I can’t find ’em!).

Sorry if I just made everything just more confusing….

Great question(s)! I think there’ll be some info showing up.

A course description and/ or sample video is a GREAT idea!

Hello- Hopefully(?)- this is what you meant when you said- “I’m afraid that if I don’t jump in that I will fall behind and not be able to catch up”.

When I joined it was about the middle of the month- (Jan 2021). Because of that, there were two weeks of lessons that had already “happened” in that month.

Well, of course, I HAD to “catch-up” and not miss out on those lessons!

And all this TAC-program was “new stuff” to me– and some of it was beyond anything I had ever monkeyed-with.

So I felt I was “behind” and, of course, my fingertips were hurtin’, and on top of trying to “catch-up” on the ones behind, there was also the new ones as they were coming out!….. AND…… the “30-Day Challenge” stuff……..

So, needless to say- I felt WAY behind!

    My two bits—

    1. Go thru those lessons that already happened- and “Save” any or all – (to Favorites). Better yet– print them out and put them in a 3-ring notebook or folder.

    2. Develop- (and likely adjust!)- a really good– written— (that is KEY)- written—practice routine. This will give you exactly what to practice and how long each segment is. This takes all the thinking out of “what do I practice next” and makes that practice more efficient. Result— you pick up your guitar, put that day’s practice schedule in front of you- (paper or screen)- and go to work.

    3. Take notes! Of easy and hard, of good and bad, of “tricky sections” or movements, and especially of improvement- (because that happens so slow you may not even notice it)- but it IS happening!

You’ll “catch up” no problem! Don’t sweat it- just work thru it. It’ll get easier, your fingertips will get tougher, and your fingers WILL learn to stretch “that far”.

Enjoy the ride, give yourself some credit- (because you have earned those successes!!!!), and have fun.

    Long-winded me- Mark J

Punder– That is a great response also!

    Luke– welcome!

I love the Daily Challenges– because “ya don’t know what ya don’t know”.

Each one pushes me just a little- (OK- some more than a little……..), and if you stand back and look at the entire curriculum, it’s well balanced and indeed provides that “spiral development path” Punder mentions. What you learn in one lesson kind-of comes back in another- but a little bit different or more advanced. It’s great.

No one could ever try to learn guitar on their own- just noodling around or playing song-tabs, and come up with these licks and lessons themselves- and how they go together.

Lastly- (probably don’t even have to say)- this— your— TAC Community is really GREAT stuff! Helpful people that remind us that none of us are alone in this guitar journey. There are guitar EXPERTS here, but they are the first to offer up advice and say they have hit that very same chuckhole in the road as they were passing by that spot in learning. They understand your question– because they’ve been there.

No question is too small– or too big…….. Again– great stuff.

    Welcome!

Jeff- We must have the same kind of metronome! Not very accurate- always just a little off my rhythm🤨.

I agree that things might come back quickly. Last week has 3 lessons I had seen before- Hello Beautiful, Four Eyes, and Sliding into Home. They came through about 2 months ago. Hadn’t seen ’em since then, but picked them right up– just like they were last week. When I (finally) get thru the Fingerpicking Jumpstart I’m gonna do the “30-day” again.
