Congrats Steve. Many more wins to come, I’m sure. I look forward to reading about them.

A solo like that is worth a repeat. Nice, Niels!

Nicely done, Charlie. You have a look of real confidence on this one, and rightfully so. You own this scale all across the neck.

Are things thawing out up there yet? My fruit trees are already blooming here in Pennsylvania.

You nailed it. Indeed it is the key of G. Play around with it using the open G, C and D chords. You’ll probably find where they fit. As you will learn in later lessons of FW, these are the I, IV and V chords in the key of G. Most of this song is built on those chords. The other chords that pop up in this song are the Em and the Am (which are the vi and ii chords in the key of G, respectively). All this will fall out from the chord matrix that you’re learning.

One of the neat things we used to do when going through Fretboard Wizard was to post a YouTube of a song along with our analysis: first with the “Find the Key” lesson and then with the chord progression and the Nashville numbering chord functions (successive FW lessons). Then other FW participants could evaluate your work and post comments on whether or not they agreed or if they heard something different. I learned tremendously by checking other people’s work. The side benefit of that exercise was that I learned a lot of cool songs and artists that I had not previously known. One shining example was “Gimme a Stone.” The posted version was a live performance by Little Feat with Vince Herman, but I ended up tracing the origins of the song to the Largo project, an album I absolutely love,

And – get this – Tony P used to occasionally review these and comment on those postings. That was in the earlier rounds of FW when there were fewer participants and Tony P was able to allocate some time to it. I remember when I first got access to FW “off-sequence” that Tony P responded to several of my postings i had a real dialogue with him and I learned a lot. To this day, it lingers as one of the best experiences I had in TACland.

I didn’t check to see if we still have the ability to post under the FW lesson pages, but there might be some archival posts still there. If so, you could try to de-code a few of those songs. Failing that, if you PM me with a link to a few YouTube videos and your analysis of the songs, I’ll be happy to share my thoughts. The feedback won’t be instant, but it should still be helpful. I have been through FW many times and I have become pretty good at transcription.

Jeff, your link just takes me to the “Whoa There” page. Maybe it’s just an intermittent problem that will correct itself. There’s a lot of that going around. I clicked because I don’t know to what you’re referring when you say the blog page, and it aroused my curiosity. I am pretty much lost on the new site and have somewhat lost my way on my guitar journey.

That’s fantastic! It is amazing to be where you are so quickly, regardless how proficient you were on other instruments (and I assume you were quite good at several to have reached this level on guitar in 6 months)! Looking forward to many more posts.

@jumpinjeff , I have to say that your last 3.5 years of development notwithstanding, your words and thoughts in this video and throughout the entire thread were perfectly nuanced. You made a solid connection with so many TAC members. I was a relative newbie to TAC at the time, and I have to say that the way we interacted as a consequence of posts that shared some of these ideas over the following few months really set me up for meeting you at ALF 2018. What a connection! And to be selected for the same ALF band – the Blue Hydra Honeyclusters. What a long, strange trip it’s been – and yet there are many miles ahead.

Funny to reminisce about how this was just a few days before my first visit to Casa Tiano, meeting @MommaTAC and Dom (whose current @ name I can’t seem to locate right now) and so many others (Adam Price, Doctor How, Carol 3M Stillhand, @Maggie , Dmart, Eryn Michel, Susan Achincloss and so many more I can’t even name them all!). My mind was exploded that week and I have not been able to piece it back together. All for the better, I might add. It was certainly a catalyst for growth.

Thanks jumpin’ jeff. I am baffled about how you might have even known to search for that blog page in the first place. As far as I can tell, there’s no path to that page for mere mortals who are using the TAC interface we currently have. There are not very many places to click, so I tried just about everything. It looks like a page to which I might want to return, but there appears to me there is no way to add it to favorites. I guess I can try adding this thread to my favorites. I fear that my favorites will soon be a random mess of junk. This is fallout from the “re-organization” of the site.

So is the Blog synonymous with the Wednesday Live Event (April Progress Party) that I attended live?
