I have since slowed this down a bit – and actually tune my guitar before playing …..
I recorded it with two guitars, one capo at 6 and the other capo at 1 but no other instruments. Decided to keep it sparse.

Thanks all for listening and your supportive comments.
I just realized I have a typo – my Dad passed in 2020 (not this year and cont figure out how to edit the post). What is interesting is I started writing for the first time during his Hospice care. It really has helped me process so much and I am in such a better place emotionally. Even last year I would not have been able to sing this song and get through it. Now I can write and sing a song like this from a place of gratitude vs just sadness. Music heals !

Brilliant idea. I did something similar. I have several guitars but my pride and joy is a custom Martin D-41 that I purchased in memory of my parents. I took it on camping trips etc and became worried that it might get damaged so I purchased an entry level Epiphone as my travel guitar. I recently moved it upstairs in the living room (all my other guitars are downstairs in my music room / old bedroom). I now play it as much as the Martin because it is always right there and waiting.

This is so good. More like a “a fine wine” 😎
I get “notes” with a hint of Pink Floyd with that solo providing a nice “Gilmore finish”
Well done!

This is heartbreaking news and I will absolutely keep you in my thoughts and send healing vibes your way. You mentioned “I am not sure I can handle not being able to play guitar”. My only advice ….. So dont. Dont imagine not playing, dont visualize not playing. Do the opposite. You want to play the guitar so you will. It might be different. You might develop skills you never “needed” until now. Heal those fingers and begin the next phase of your guitar journey. The Guitar Geek Community is united with you and your recovery!
Take care.

@Bill_Brown Thanks – The most rewarding part of this song to me is how many people have commented about how it reminds them of a parent. That is the greatest reward for me or imagine any song writer – that their work has brought about a personal memory of the listener. Thanks for taking the time to listen and provide feedback.

I am big gilmore fan as well. His guitar solo’s so lyrical and emotionally moving!
