That was amazing. Nicely done sir. I’m envious of your hands! They look so relaxed and natural. I hope mine look as such when I progress because now (8 days in) they don’t look like they know what they are doing and look EXTREMELY awkward.

    Again great job! 👏 👊

This post made me smile a lot. 😃

Sounds like you are a guitar player to me.

I hope to get there one day. – Wil

@FatherTime603 (Great screen name!!) Just started 30 day challenge on Tuesday May 17th and am having a blast. Finger feels like they are going to crack open and bleed all over my guitar but pushing through the pain. This is the most excited I’ve been about playing guitar in YEARS. I look forward to each new day building knowledge and skills and most importantly being CONSISTENT! I appreciate your post and am right there with you. – Wil

  • @xiao-bai Thank you for your encouraging words. I just signed up with TAC on May 17th, working my way through the 30 days program and Fretboard Wizardy, and am truly excited to be a guitar player rather than the dabbler I’ve been for the past 15+ years. Yes, I’m excited again but reading your post reminds me that those slumps may come. Love your outlook regarding them; “learn to enjoy them….”. Very sound and encouraging words. Thanks. – Wil

Great suggestion @Cadgirl. I’m going to try that.

Hi @Cadgirl The nut width is a little tiny bit over 1.5 inches. I think that’s part of the issue. I’m going to investigate other guitars with wider nut widths after trying some of the suggestions I hopefully will find online. Though I’m going to use your suggestion as my rationale for getting a new, wider nut width guitar. LOL. It’ll help as well in the long run.

Thanks for you response and suggestion.

Take care and be well. – Wil

@Loraine Thank you for the Goggle (no typo) suggestion. It didn’t even think to do that. Needless to say I’ll do so immediately.

    Be well. – Wil

Alfred, thank you for your response and suggestions. I researched spanish/classical holds and will definitely try that. I also checked the nut width of my guitar and measured it at a tad bit over 1.5 inches. I definitely think I could benefit from a guitar with a wide nut.

You mentioned a classical guitar with nylon strings. Is there a major difference in sounds quality between nylon and metal strings? Any insight would be appreciated.

Regarding posture I’m pretty solid on that front. No wrist strain or anything like that. The only issue is sore virgin fingers but that’s to be expected.

I’m going to seriously consider getting a new guitar with a wider nut.

Take care and be well. – Wil
