Awesome rendition @KevinZ , really liked the voice inflection you used to capture the spirit of Merle. Your picking was equal as well in regard to his spirit. 👍 👏 👍 👏

Good one @Topher , I liked the way you emphasized the chromatic notes in your melody – using them as finish points and then later using the diatonic notes! Very cool 😎 😎 😎

I know, right @SherryH ! That’s a great small win. I had so much fun with Ice Dancing the 1st time I played it. I remember playing it for my wife when she came home from work and she was shocked that I could even play something that sounded so good and do it all up and down the neck. I play this all the time as part of my practice routine. 😎

MemberApril 23, 2021 at 7:57 am in reply to: Where to begin? TAC, 30 Day, or Fret WizardHi Sandy S, I believe you’re starting with the 30 Days to Play is the correct path as a beginner. Always keep in mind that you can go through the course at your own pace. You can take as long as you need, go back to individual lessons as many times as you want! It’s perfectly fine to take more than the 30 days, especially as a true beginner. I would say that you should probably steer clear of the Daily Challenges for now and concentrate on the lessons in the 30 Days course. Once you feel more comfortable and confident with your playing, then maybe take a look at the Daily Challenges – you don’t have to participate in them if it involves something you can’t do yet. Once you’ve completed the 30 Days course, Then try to learn a song or two, as @Alfred has suggested. I also suggest that you take a look at the Skills courses after you’ve completed the 30 Days. In there, you’ll find some definite “next step” kind of things. As far as Fretboard Wizard goes, you bought it, so you own it! You will have it for as long as you’re a TAC member so you can start it anytime you want. Just like the 30 Days course, it’s something that you can do at your own pace and go back to as often as you like.
Welcome to TAC Sandy, and have a fun guitar journey. If you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to post them on the Forums. The TAC Family is here to help each other get the best guitar experience possible 😉

Hi @Michael J , Just click on the heart icon below and to the right side of the video box area. The heart will turn red and then you’ll have it available through your profile page. Make sure you get all the lessons that you want from this month before the month is up! 😎

That was real nice @Dan D# (not tagging). I liked the way you used the entire scale with the slides and bends – nice 👏 👏 👏 💙

Hi @Kim-Fitz , You should contact TAC Support. I think @Victoria should be able to help. When you get to the “Support” page, look to the lower right side of the screen and you’ll see a (green??) tablet icon, click on that and then you can ask that question and someone will answer you back in a few hours. Hope that helps!

Hi @darcelle , My thoughts are that the squeak noise comes from the fingers running along the wound strings (lo E, A, D and on my guitar, the G also). Let’s take today’s lesson for instance, “Ice Dancing” – using a C shape and moving it up and down the fretboard. When I keep my middle & ring fingers on the D & A strings while moving from one position to the next, I get Squeak City. When I lift those fingers completely off of those strings, I get zero squeak. I can still keep my index finger touching the B string as an anchor (or guide) and have no squeak because that string is not wound. Just wanted to give my 2 cents.

Hi @Gord001 , I just wanted to say that I agree with everything being said by everyone! I also still have to do the “Eddie thing” in my mind when trying to follow verbal instructions about positioning on the fretboard. I like to do the “picture-in-picture” thing while looking at the TAB so I can see how Tony does things while at the same time I can see the music. No, I can’t read music but I can read a guitar tab! Also, I second @Alfred ‘s suggestion about the Fretboard Wizard course, if you haven’t taken it yet, I strongly suggest that you seriously consider doing so. It was a game changer for me and I’m confident that it would benefit you. It may be the “secret” that you feel you’re missing! 🤩

Congrats DJ ( @Death-or-Glory ), that’s awesome. I have to say, this melody is a great one to explore “rabbit holes”, if you choose. Sounds like the one you went down ended in a good place.
