Hi @MississippiJeff and welcome to TAC and the TAC Community. Congrats on finishing the 30 Days To Play and the 5 Day Guitar Routine. When I started TAC, the 5 Day Guitar Routine didn’t exist, and the philosophical emphasis of the site was quite different than it is now. There was no single clear path and the choice was yours (and it still is your choice now), although I believe Tony is pushing new members to get to the Daily Challenges sooner than later. That wouldn’t have worked for me starting out here on this site. In fact, many of the senior members at that time had suggestions that new people should go to the skills courses before starting the Dailies. IMHO, that was a great path to follow. After the 30 Days, my path had me go to the Next 6 chords and then the Jumpstart courses (pick one that interests you most to start there, but do all 3). From there I did Fretting Hand Tool Box, Foundations Of Fretboard Navigation and then Fretboard Wizard. Then I started the Daily Challenges, with a little more skill and a much better understanding and confidence in my playing abilities. That’s how it worked for me Jeff and that would be my recommendation, but the choice is yours – it’s always your choice here. Best wishes to you and your guitar journey.

MemberDecember 12, 2022 at 6:30 am in reply to: Great Practice with Friday challenge in Key of G BarreGood morning @Cadgirl , my original intention was for you to see a pattern with 1-4-5 chords along the neck using the E and A shaped barre chords ONLY. Why just those 2 shapes only? Because these 2 shapes (and their families – major, minor, 7, sus forms) are the most commonly played barre chords.
The pattern I was trying to have you see is:
*Using an E shaped barre for the 1 chord, the 4 chord will be an A shape barred at the same fret (as the 1 chord) and the 5 chord will be an A shape barred 2 frets higher (toward the body of the guitar).
*Using an A shape as the 1 chord, the 5 chord will be an E shape barred at the same fret (as the 1 chord) and the 4 chord will be an E shape barred 2 frets lower (toward the headstock).
The fact that you thought to use the D and C shapes for finding the 4 & 5 chords for the keys I originally mentioned, I think is amazingly awesome and by far, above the call to duty. But did you see a pattern along the fretboard doing that? If so, or if not, through your effort, you’ve gained a huge amount of knowledge and a much broader view of using the different CAGED chord shapes than I ever have. Great work Cadgirl👏👏👏
If you want, go ahead and test the patterns I’ve discussed above and see if it seems a little more simple.😘
