Hello @HeyJude , very nice work with that full barred F chord. The barred F chord is simply an E chord shape with the index barring the 1st fret. If you move that E shape up the neck so that the index is barring the 3rd fret (G chord) or the 5th fret (A chord), you’ll find less tension from the strings on the index finger = an easier place on the neck to practice making the barred E shape and more success with playing and getting sound from barre chords. IMHO, I would suggest trying that for all barred chord shapes that you are learning, that’s how I did it years ago😎

I’ll take that recommendation graciously @GuitarGeni 👍 I was lucky enough to see the Allman Brothers live circa 1970. The band was awesome, but when I saw (and heard) Duane Allman with that Gibson playing slide – the earth stood still for me. I’d never played guitar before, but that’s what started this whole ball of wax for me😱 I love listening (and trying to play) anything slide guitar🤩 I’ve fooled around with it when I was (a lot) younger, but now I feel like I have a better handle (not control of) on it and a destination is in sight. My daughter loves listening to me play slide, my wife, not so much😎
