@MattyRose I have used 3 different fingerings, and now I have.2 more to try out based on this thread.

Hey @GJA The callouses develop and eventually the pain in the fingertips should be relieved. Not sure how long you’re practicing at any given time, but if the pain persists, possibly try shortening your practice time and having a few shorter sessions throughout the day.
As for barre chords, they’re difficult and take time to build up strength in the barring fingers, and there is a sweet spot that you need to hit in order for them to play clearly. Make sure you’re fretting near the frets and that your barre finger is slightly curved and this allows you to barre on the outside edge of that finger where you have more strength.

@TMutter It was an honor to celebrate with you on your momentous night. You were extremely prepared, didn’t let the nerves get to you, were a great story teller and your performance was enjoyable to watch and listen to. Great performance. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for allowing me to witness it!

@Kent_B I’m sorry you’re having a difficult time and are frustrated with the lessons. @Cadgirl hit it on the head when she suggested breaking it down. You can literally focus on 2 bars at a time, and once you’ve accomplished that then move onto the next bar and so on. Break it down into bite size pieces. Spend 10-15 minutes practicing and then walk away for a while. Come back to it later that day or the next. This usually resets your mind frame. When frustrated, go back to a previous lesson from the 30 days to play that you enjoyed and play that instead. You don’t have to read music to use the tabs. The music is there just as a reference. The chords are usually written above the music, and the strings to be fretted and played are under the music. Those are what you focus on with tabs. It just takes getting used to learning them. Guitar is a difficult instrument to learn, but I guarantee that you will get better, and it will get easier as you move forward even with just the 10 minutes per day. There are going to be challenges, but there will be those golden nugget days where you overcome a difficulty, have a lightbulb moment, or find something once found difficult is now easier.

@bugmeist Great effort! It gets easier to not look at your hands the more you play. It adds a whole new freedom to playing.

@Dean-Staff Welcome to the TAC community. I’ve often heard that electric guitars are easier to play for the same reasons that you mentioned, and I know that many others also use electric to learn on. Enjoy your journey with the TAC community.

Hi Peter and welcome to the TAC community! I’m not familiar with a course titled TAC Lift Off. Could it be a different course name? Such as the 30 Days to Play Guitar Challenge? All courses are listed in the Skills section which can be accessed by clicking on Skills in the menu at the left.
You can always send Support a note asking how to access the Lift Off course you’ve referenced.

There were some Spanish undertones in the improv. I liked your use of the entire neck and the incorporation of the scale. Nice job @charlie_d !

@Brian2501 I really enjoy hearing about your wins in sounding out different songs. Great skill to have.

Welcome to the TAC community @JustinRigdon ! I like how you hit the ground running. Enjoy the 30 days to play, and let us know if you have any questions or continue to post your #smallwins! Have fun with it.

@Duane58 Im just coming back to being able to play from tennis elbow and tendinitis. I went through acupuncture which helped considerably, but the only real relief came from getting a cortisone injection in my elbow. I was sidelined for nearly 3 months from playing due to it. I now have some relief and am able to play and practice without pain. My suggestion is to not play through the pain. You can actually do more damage. Tennis elbow and tendinitis can take months to a year to overcome, so it’s best to not push through the pain. Have it checked out by your physician and consider the cortisone injection. Also, it is extremely important to warm up your muscles and loosen up with stretches before and after playing. I also purchased wrist supports to use when playing. Good luck with your recocpvery.

Hey @ping, I would definitely replace it when it shows wear. Have a bowl of picks that you can choose from, and discard damaged or worn ones. It’s pretty difficult to damage a pick, so you must be playing a lot and very heavily.

Hey @OhWowMan You own it regardless of whether you maintain your TAC membership. You’ll still be able to access it.
