Hey @quinner – Welcome to the TAC community and for your intro. Glad you found us and hope you’re having fun in the 30 days to play course. I never picked up a guitar until 1 1/2 years ago, and I’m shocked at how far I’ve come in a short amount of time. Funny how the minimum of 10 minutes/day turns into an hour of practice. TAC is great at teaching foundational skills and in building a strong practice routine.
Don’t be a stranger to the forums, and continue to have fun and enjoy your journey.

Hi @Kent_B and welcome to TAC! I enjoy reading others How I TAC posts, because it helps me get to know you better. I think many of us found TAC during the COVID isolation period.
As for what to do next … After the 30 day challenge there will be the Next 6 chords. If you haven’t begun the Daily Challenge, that would be my next suggestion. Many will seem above your play level initially, but you’ll begin to find they become easier as you gain in skills and abilities. Also, check out the Skills section. You can take any that interest you. I began with the Jumpstart to Fingerpicking, Flatpicking, and Strumming courses. I also suggest taking the Stretching course.
Good luck, have fun, and let us know how things are going as you move forward.,

Hey @Ping It sounds to me as if the coating on the strings has come off, been worn off, etc. Without photos and/or video showing what it is you’re seeing and hearing, it’s difficult to say for sure. When’s the last time you changed your strings, and how much are you playing? They all factor in to when strings should be replaced. It could be you had some older strings. I would suggest changing your strings and see if that doesn’t solve the problems.

@Skyman Congrats on the milestone of completing your first week of daily challenges. That’s a big win. I like that you recognize how being challenged and pushed out of your comfort zone can lead to progress. I’m still challenged by the dailies, even after a year and a half, but I typically pick up the skills and am able to play what Tony is teaching much quicker and more efficiently. Keep up the effort, and one day you’ll be like, now that wasn’t so bad!

Try to breathe and relax a little @stevieblues ! Sounds like you had a great week, considering you completed 5 day challenge. Sometimes information overload and stress can lead to memory issues, but I’m sure you’ll do fine moving forward.

That’s an awesome win @Todd_S , and a great testament to a good practice routine and how far one can come in a short amount of time (while having fun)!

I’m not sure of where Tony covers this topic @newbybrian , but I’d be interested to know which lesson he mentions it too. I will say that string awareness just comes with practice and muscle memory. Many of the daily challenges work on building string awareness. If you haven’t begun the dailies yet, don’t fret. They cover this topic over and over and will be there whenever you get to the dailies.

I think you’re in your realm when playing the blues @charlie_d ? Sounded great, and it seemed like you were enjoying it. The backing track was way too short this week.

@Screaming_fingers_jackson Happy NGD! How exciting! Not sure if your 2nd post was a photo or video, but it didn’t show up. Would love to see and hear the guitar.

Loved the different guitars (btw, beautiful resonator), but I absolutely loved the ending percussive aspect. Made me smile.

@Brian2501 Really cool win! I can find the key of a song, but I have a difficult time determining the chords, even following the normal 1, 4, 5 format. I think I need to be better at playing too, in order to make it sound like a song. Something to aspire to – on my to do list.

Sounds like some cool happenings in your world @BethL ! What kinda gig are you playing at? Great job on the log-ins – consistency is the name of the game. Hope all is well in your world –

Yeah, I’ve had problems with photos too @albert_d . One work around is to copy and paste into a word doc and save it, and then it should load.
