That’s a fantastic win Tracie. As for applying the lessons to songs, you’ll find that the lessons build your skills, and the skills will be applied to songs, etc. You’re building up your skills library and may call upon them at different times in your journey.

Great win John – I still have difficulty with the A-shaped barre chords, but I’m able to get most of the others.

I think you’re right that she’ll want to pick up learning a new song in short time. You’re a wise father for recognizing how hard she worked to get to where she is and that it’s okay to take a breather and step back.
I’m learning this lesson more along the typical lines I learn any lesson – the hard way. I tend to beat myself up and feel like a failure if I don’t seem to be working on something new or seeing some type of results. My father was a very hard and critical person and if I wasn’t working to his standards, he let me know in a very negative way. You’re not doing that, and I think your daughter will greatly benefit because of it.

I was that way last week @LC_Smith and coffee didn’t help me one iota.

@Terry6422000 Great win – There really is no time limit on the challenge. However long you need, you should take. Remember though, you’re not striving for perfection … keep moving and learning. You can always go back to a lesson if you want to.
Funny story about bootcamp. When I went in the Marines many, many moons ago, I was promised an engineering job based on my AFEES score. In basic, they learned I could type over 100 words per minute, and thus I became the chaplain’s secretary. I still haven’t forgiven them for that. Put a real dent in my wanting to be there.

@JoeW Your playing has improved at a very rapid rate in a short period of time. Fantastic job on this improv – very melodic.

I appreciate you saying I’m improving, because that means the world to me. I often can’t see it myself. I can see how things will get easier as I keep moving forward, because I remember not knowing a dang thing about the guitar when I started.

You’re so kind @Alfred . Well, slow and steady has to work, because that’s the only way I know how to do it. For some reason I feel like my brain and hands just can’t speed up – LOL
