What an awesome win Cadgirl. That dang pick will be difficult to master, but it opens so many doors when it comes to picking and strumming. I love the sound of Drop-D too. Keep up the great work!

Michael, agree with your assessment, and I’m not sure I agree with the change. Forums typically are for the members, and therefore, if they choose to treat it as a social interaction and support group for all things acoustic, then I think they should be given a user friendly platform to do so. The forums were my main reason for becoming a lifetime member months back, and I would prefer it revert back to tthe previous version or something similar. At least we could see which messages were newer, from new players, had a follow on conversation, we could respond with likes, direct comments to specific people, and so much more.

I think the conversation is a great example of how motivation and fun are different for every person. The site should cater to many different forms of motivation and how others perceive their work and effort’s value and motivation. Some are intrinsic and some are extrinsic.

Have to comment on Jumpin’ Jeff’s comment – If this were only about learning the guitar (and not building relationships and having various outlets for fun – which might include striving for a badge), then it would be no different than other sites or going through the drudgery of daily practice and lessons. There need to be different outlets.

I wouldn’t even say it’s competition. It was something to strive for and gave a sense of accomplishment. They meant a lot to a lot of people.
