  1. It looks like Tony plays the A major chord by Barring the first 4 strings of the second fret (E,B,G,D). but I thought the high E string in an A chord was open E string

  2. Hi Tony and all you Wizards,

I’ve been away for several days. Not by choice. I was in the hospital for the past 5 days but just got home. Now ready to resume the Course and Fun. Just wanted you to know I was not being a slacker.

  3. I keep going back to the improv framework bonus – Base Scale Patterns from root to root. My question is why is the Pattern under “C” root note at the 5th fret of the A string – or the D Note? In fact, if you look at the extended pattern for C, the C note on the A string isn’t even on there. I’m confused why those patterns are CAGED if the root notes aren’t C-A-G-E-D.

    1. Brian,

Great question, these patterns are just patterns with moveable root notes. This means wherever those patterns begin (the root) you can move them to play in whichever key you wish. Just remember the patterns denoted on that sheet are completely moveable and are more associated with the CAGED shapes than where they are depicted on that particular diagram 🙂

      Cheers,
      Tony

  4. Well i have to retake quiz only 70%. My problem was with the melody or chord based song questions . Better results next time i hope.

  5. I want to look at the Q&A replay for Module 4 (Improvisation Framework) before retaking the quiz…. however, I’m using chrome, but it’s not finding the replay video (No issues for the replays of modules 1, 2 and 3) . Struggling a bit separating the Chord and Melody based portions and hoping the Q&A will give me additional tools.

    Thanks…. Brian E.

      1. Thanks Tony… the direct link worked and listening to the Q&A replay was very helpful. I will go back and revisit the quiz for module 4 with some new insight.
        Just wanted to add…
there was a question on using sharps or flats in a scale. For me, I use the integrity of the alphabet… meaning
        A B C D E F G
For a Dmaj scale for instance
        D E F# G A B C# D ie EFGABCD vs.
        D E Gb G A B Db D ie EGGABDD

        For a F major scale
        F G A Bb C D E F ie FGABCDEF vs.
        F G A A# C D E F ie FGAACDEF
For me keeping the alphabetic flow tells me to call it sharp or flat.

        Just a thought…. Brian
