1st Anniversary
My 1st TACiversary was on Saturday. Was doing a bit of traveling and did not take the time to write my story here. However, I did have my guitar and my practice routine continued. Which brings me to what I really want to say. I am 60 years old and basically I started playing guitar a year ago. As a child around 10 and 17 I made a minimal attempt at playing the guitar, each only lasted a couple of lessons and no more than a month, practicing only once a week. The only thing I remembered form the previous times was a D cord. TAC gave me what I needed to create a guitar routine that has worked. I logged onto the site 340 times last year. I play between 10 minutes and one hour each night at 8:30 PM. Most nights it is an hour. I try not to compare myself to the others I see online and on this site as the techniques to play guitar do not seem to come very easily. However, what I have found is I really look forward to 8:30 almost every day. The word that comes to mind for me is Joy, not just fun but joy. I have a new friend in my guitar that we really unexpected. I told myself for over 40 years that I “play the stereo”. I have found this was a lie I told myself in order not to have to take the time and effort it take so be a guitar geek. Thank you Tony and everyone on the site for helping me. I do not post much but your stories and words have helped. Here is to another year.
I plan to continue doing the daily challenges and the fretboard wizard course for next year. I also have liked the idea of a notebook with the tabs of daily lessons. I am going to start that this evening.
