1st TACiversary!
Posted by Cadgirl on February 26, 2022 at 8:43 amI’ve been with TAC one year now. I had played before many years ago and just wanted to get back in the swing of guitar playing. It’s not like the 70s when I had friends that played the guitar. I’m amazed how many people are absolutely not interested in learning to play an instrument. So to say the least, once I bought a guitar I found out I didn’t have a support group. It was a little overwhelming. I was really surprised what I forgot too! I found TAC when googling Acoustic Pentatonic Scale. TAC came up. I started following the Tuesday shows and before you know it, I joined. Yes, TAC has been a big help keeping me focused. If I could just sit down with my guitar in the morning, that was my first hurdle for the day.
What I found out since joining is I have more confidence in my guitar playing.
MY ROUTINE IS:
1) I play everyday whenever possible.
2) I started tracking guitarists that I like they way they play. Not just big names, but people like you and I.
3) Once I can play a song somewhat, I try to play along with the Youtube of the same song.MY NEW GOALS WOULD BE:
1) Submit a song to ‘play for us’
2) I’d like to be able to play in front of people.
3) Start making videos so I can benchmark my process.
4) Push myself to learn new songs and not just rehash what I already know.
5) Learn to use interfacing equipment so I can record right to my computer.
6) Improve my strumming.Kitman replied 3 years, 8 months ago 11 Members · 21 Replies -

Congratulations on your first TACiversary @Cadgirl . It’s been a pleasure getting to know you this past year, and I’m looking forward to seeing you achieve your goals.

Thanks @Loriane , I have officially decided to stay another year. I was working on recording my self playing a song and I messed it up every time. I finally got one recording and i’ll get it uploaded sometime this week. Thanks again, you have been a big inspiration to me 🙂

THanks @Marty69 , now that I have decided to stay another year I’m going to work a little harder at my playing. I’m not ready for a VOM. But, I did record a song and was going to post. That was hard enough to do. My leg was bouncing during my playing. ha ha ha…..

All I can say is that it does get easier. Have fun with it and it all comes out good in the end. 😊🧙♂️😎

Thanks @Bill_Brown . I was going back and forth if I was going to stay another year. Glad I decided to stay.

Thanks @Cadgirl, inspiration comes in so many different guises.
One thing a lot of people with new(ish) guitar goals have is a dart board. Want to gain greatly, and have fun at it too? Put those 6 Goals on slips and put each on a section of the Board. Then, once a week, have a beer, wine, wiskey, or lemonaid, and throw a dart. Whatever section you hit, spend the week, in addition to your 10 minutes a day, 5 minutes a day on that one goal. New week, new drink, new dart. And if you hit the bullseye, it’s your choice, including passing a week, or redoing the last one.
Anyway, I really like your approach, and mental attitude, and you got this. I just know you do.

@AttyTJ , Thanks, I decided to stay. Glad I did too. I’m really going to push myself this year. There are so many skill courses that I should be taking advantage of. I uploaded my 1st song. So April I’ll upload another. 🙂

I missed this post first time round so I’m glad I found it now. Really interesting to read about your journey and goals. I sat in on one of the virtual open mics at the tail end of last year after setting myself a 90 day goal to play at one. I was so taken with how friendly it was and that people’s expectations were not that you should do everything perfectly, which is just as well for me. I’d thoroughly recommend it though. Great to meet up with fellow guitarists, swap a few tales and songs and there’s no pressure to play. Anyway you’re nearly 18 months in now so a “better late than never” congrats from me. Darren 🤟😎🎸🎉🎉

congrats, Cadgirl! Its funny how my recent journey reflects yours. all my friends from back in the day are scattered or sadly no longer with us. I dabbled and put the guitar away for years, forgetting 90 percent of what I thought I knew. Finding tac is somewhat like finding a new group of supportive friends. My goals are feelling like Im really playing especially independent thumb and melody combos. Im playing everyday and have a guitar way out of my league but that helps me commit. Thanks for being such a great contributing member and for all your positive inputs. Keep on picking!

Thanks @Mrfredsporty. It’s different getting back into guitar playing from when I was younger, but i’m more structured now. I know what I want to accomplish and if I can’t get there. It will only be my fault. I can do this, as can all of us. We might not be the next big star, but we can be all we can be for the the present. THanks again for responding to my post.

I too am late to the dance in congratulating you mid term toward a second taciversary. I really appreciated your earlier posting. I think your decision to stay with TAC is being rewarded. @Cadgirl you have the right stuff to spread a little musical joy to the world.

Happy TACiversary @Cadgirl : great routine great goals. The only question I have is: when would it not be possible? Play every day! I am trying to think of an example…..okay I have one, if you find yourself incarcerated. That would get in the way. : ) Is there another?

Ok @jumpinjeff , You might not be able to pick up and play a guitar whenever you want, but you can play it in your head, whenever you want. When I’m learning a song (especially one that isn’t real easy). I play it over and over again in my head. Maybe it’s not really playing a physical guitar, but it’s the next best thing at times.
your correct, if your in jail, you won’t have a guitar. Lets try not to have that happen. 🙂

Hey @Cadgirl and happy belated Taciversary! Thank you for sharing your experience, your journey and your goals. You posted “Mad World” in the Play for Us forum only a few weeks back – out a check mark on gnat goal! Congrats! I encourage you to join a VOM or 2 – the folks are very welcoming and supportive.Hey @Cadgirl and happy belated Taciversary! Thank you for sharing your experience, your journey and your goals.
