Satin Nights
Posted by Guitargeezer on June 10, 2023 at 8:39 amJustin Hayward wrote this when he was just a lad of nineteen. Released in 1967, first as a single then on the “Days of Future Past” LP. Have heard Hayward perform it live many times over the years. Most recently this year, while “On the Blue” cruise. He continues to have a remarkable voice! Sang my rendition to my bride of 47 and got the positive reaction I hoped for. Yes, I love you, Rosalie. 😍

@Guitargeezer-Jack That was exceptional. Brought back a ton of memories.

Very much appreciate @stevieblues @bugmeist and @Loraine kind words of encouragement😃 I have been working on an advanced version with guitar riffs mimicking the songs orchestration, like the flute. Stay tuned. Let’s keep playing with joyful hearts💓

I love it. We had a local HS band, “The Shy Guys”, who played wearing white Nehru jackets in darkened room under black lights. Man, we were soooo coool. Enjoyed your rendition.

Oh yes, indeed @albert_d – I was a shy guy too back then with stage fright yet I wore a brown Nehru jacket. Gave it to a younger kid next door when it didn’t fit. He told a few years ago he still has it! Thanks for listening and your remarks.

I love that song, and your soft touch on this one was perfect. We have the same strumming style…whatever gets the job done! 😂✌🏼👍🏼

Thanks @Philb – I do like my comfy “Every Good Boy Deserves Favour” MB LP cover art shirt as much as the album itself.

Superb song and this is a beautiful rendition. Great stuff. Justin Hayward is such a gentleman too. Still playing live with some great vids on YouTube.

Appreciate your comments @Moonhare – Justin Hayward does come across as a very nice person. Here’s a recent FB video of him with his current tour band mates: (20+) Watch | Facebook
Darren, if you haven’t seen Mike Dawes perform on his own, I highly recommend seeing him. An awesome percussionist guitarist with boundless talent and energy.

Dennis, welcome to TAC. Hope it will achieve your wildest guitar dreams. Consistency is the key to success. Just pick up your guitar each day. Ten minutes rapidly being 30 and more.
Always great to discover another North Carolinian on board.
Think I might make it as far as Asheville. Appreciate your comment.
