4 Guitar Check Ins – Improving My Playing
Posted by Kitman on May 3, 2022 at 6:51 pmJoined TAC a few days ago. The 4 Guitar check ins presented in the 30 Days to Play have helped my accuracy, speed and tone… and I am enjoying playing! 😃

Kitman–
Welcome to TAC!- (it was a GREAT choice….)
My two cents—– (remember that opinions are like rear-ends…. everybody has one……
Be patient with yourself. Can’t tell ya how important this is…..
Focus on FUN……. and realize there will be times when this seems less than fun. Accept that…….. It’s all good….. work thru it.
Focus on ACCURACY over speed– speed will come.
Lean on us here in the Forum- we’re here to help, not judge. We’re all in the same boat.
Explore the whole TAC website– There is a LOT of really-REALLY great stuff in here! Dig….. deep.
Do the nuts-&-boltsy stuff– with no shortcuts. None.
LISTEN… (really L-I-S-T-E-N)- to the beautiful sounds you are making– both good and bad– and learn from both.
Pat yourself on the back with a “win” when one comes along. You earned it!
Do the Daily’s- no slacking! They stack on top of each other. Like climbing a ladder– one lesson sometimes is a harder version of the previous one.
LEARN the chords and transitions- (extremely important). Forewards and backwards. Go deep here.. deep. Focus on moving efficiently between chords. This is the cool stuff. Remember that learning guitar is a marathon, not a sprint.
Goof around with things- EXPERIMENT on your own….. “add” to the lessons and skills courses however you want…… Do weird stuff….. your OWN stuff……..
Now…. go…. have fun!

Thank you for your words of wisdom, encouragement and support, Coach. I truly appreciate the welcome and the benefit of everyone’s experience. I will head your words.
This community is great such a warm welcome
The toughest thing for me is the posture and relaxing – that said I am “checking in” through out my playing session and letting the stress go. And I am having fun!

You’re welcome.
Remember- these suggestions are what work for me- for where I’m at in my journey.
Mold or tweak any of these you want to fit where YOU are and where you want to go.
But there is one that applies no matter what- and it’s not even on my list!
It’s Jeff’s last three words—- “play play play”.👍 Keep it light, keep it fun.
