Billy In The Lowgrounds
Over the last couple of days I have been working through Tony’s Flat Picking Jump Start in the Skill Courses. There is a progression of lessons that teach the beginner fundamentals, skills and techniques of bluegrass flat picking. The lessons all lead up to playing the bluegrass song “Billy In The Lowgrounds”.
I have been a TAC member for 21 days now. A couple of my 90 day goals include learning the basics of flat picking and learning 2 bluegrass songs. This song is one I will continue to practice and build upon
When I took this skills course I realized that all of the daily challenges over the past 2 weeks have been providing bite sized learning and practice that is really beginning to lay a solid foundation for me. The guitar routine is really the key. I am loving my guitar journey with the TSC family! 😃

Smooooth @Kitman 😎 you played spot-on at that tempo👏👏 Now that you have it “under your fingers”, another way to challenge yourself is to up the tempo😱 and see if you can still keep it that smooth🤩 just something to work for👍

Thanks, @Bill_Brown I appreciate your input and encouragement! Great idea. When I see the bluegrass artists play this song it seems they are picking at a tempo that is 3x or more of what I have been able to achieve. I will work at bumping up the tempo little by slow and see what happens! 😅
