He has a daughter, who doesn’t live with him, and he has fought to have a “normal” life. I am involved daily with him, even if it is just communication. It has been rough for all, and he is once again hospitalized, but will be out tomorrow. The words in the song are not mine, put together by me, and are what he has expressed. I attempted to have the chords shadow the emotions of the words, and so used 8 chords, though some are just subtle shifts of one or two fingers.

I applaud you @Philb 👏👏👏 for touching on a subject that a lot of us try to ignore. The way you portrayed the inside of your son’s mind was amazing. I can imagine that the words you used for the lyrics are things that you’ve heard him say for so long and so many times. I think you did a great job with the music and lyrics to show the discord and turmoil within his mind. I know you’re not looking for sympathy, you’re just using music to tell a story that’s close to your heart. But after hearing your story, I’m saying a prayer for your son and your family.

Such a touching thing to do, to take someone else’s struggles and words and put them to music. Great job, sir!

@Bill_Brown Thanks much for listening, the kind words, and the prayer. Yes, he is actually the source of the words in some form or another. Music is such a great way to express things.

@jackietrav12gmail-com Thanks for listening and the kind words.

@Philb , so sorry to learn about the struggles of your son. My thoughts and prayers go out to him plus you and family. The song you created to help all understand what he is going through is touching and vulnerable. Shining light on what seems to be a taboo subject helps us all understand a bit more. Thank you for sharing with us.

@Philb Very poignant, but you captured the thoughts and feelings and reality of your son. The prayer at the end was so apropos. Thank you for sharing with us. My heart goes out to your family. It seems as if you and your son have found a great outlet through music.

Good use of your musical learning to express the inexpressible. Prayers from here too.

I am great appreciative of you all taking the time to listen, your gracious and kind words, and your prayers. I wasn’t sure how a song such as this would fit or be received; but am thankful for this community and the acceptance.
