Detroit Moan (short blues fingerstyle from the old songbook)

states the song was recorded by Victoria Spivey in 1936 with her voice and a
horn section, and he made a fingerstyle arrangement of it. In at first looking
at it; the hand position doesn’t seem to change much in parts; but in learning
it, I found there was a lot of fingertip movement and changes giving it the
flavor, and making it a challenge for me. This is my first crack at anything above the starter and easy section as this is in the medium section. Tony’s recording it so clean and
smooth; while mine, not as clean, and has some…….clunky transitions, adding a
pause in a couple parts. Just to be able to play it, even at my level, shows
just how much TAC has helped me grow. Learning skills and consistency add up to
being able to play songs I never thought I would. Maybe in a year I’ll see if I
can improve on this.</div><div>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GQzQxlVMNks

@Loraine @dr_dave @Bill_Brown
Thank you for listening; and the encouraging words. A long way to go, but a long way from where I started. -
Great step and good song for a back porch 4th of July homemade ice cream fest. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for taking the time to listen, and the kind words.
I know what you mean by chunky @Marisa; that is how it felt for me. I was getting discouraged with it, but have learned to accept a little improvement at a time and to keep going so it is fun and I don’t give up. I’ll revisit this another time. 🙂
