So, I subscribe to the David Gilmour point of view that your first or second attempt at a solo is usually the best as you start repeating yourself. And while I think that the first attempt is better, it is marred by background noise. I eliminated the noise in my 2nd attempt but, I think it proves Gilmour’s point. So, I figured I’d post both to see what you think.

Both are nice versions, @JoeW

I prefer the second one – because the noise is gone – and because it feels as if some of the musical ideas from first improv have matured a bit.

  I appreciate your perspective, @Niels. I remember hating a 2nd take recorded solo I did last century with the band and all of them liking it better than the 1st take. Interesting how something sounds to others.

I’m going along with @Loraine and @Niels , both versions are very nice @JoeW 👍👏👏👍 I feel the first had some excellent “spontaneity” but some of the musical sound was not there. The second version lacked the spontaneity, but as Niels put it “the musical ideas…have matured”, in my words – sounded a little more polished.🤩 Really nice work Joe😎

  Thanks, @Bill_Brown . I don’t know how much the ideas matured. I mean, it was only like 2 minutes after I listened to the 1st take that I recorded the 2nd. 😁🎸

They were both great, JoeW. I listened to the 2nd one first and really liked that fancy thing you did with harmonics near the end in that one. However, I preferred the first one – you had better flow in that one. Great melody and nicely connected licks in both.
