    I’m trying to better learn my scales so I went back to Fretboard wizard lessons on how scales are built:

    • 1 w 2 w 3 h 4 w 5 w 6 w 7 h 1 => Major scale
    • 1 w 2 h 3 w 4 w 5 h 6 w 7 w 1 => Minor scale

    And how 3rds are built:

    • w+w => Major 3rd
    • h+w or w+h => Minor 3rd

    Then I realized that a scale is made up of 3 thirds (1=>3, 3=>5, 5=>7) and so I can now think of scales being built like this:

    • Major 3rd + Minor 3rd + Major 3rd = Major Scale
    • Minor 3rd + Major 3rd + Minor 3rd = Minor Scale

    No more having to remember wwhwwwh and whwwhww 🙂
