First upload: Runaway train
Posted by Alisa on June 4, 2021 at 3:26 pmToday I’m celebrating my 39 days anniversary at TAC: lucky number times an unlucky number must mean something. And inspired by many of you who post here, I decided to bite the bullet and share my first video.
I feel like it should come with a disclaimer: it’s not going to good. 😂
It’s runaway train by soul asylum, a song I grew up with and always gave me goosebumps. I’ve been working on this song for a while, to a point where I’m a little sick of it. By posting it here, I’m ritually letting go of it for a few months, so I concentrate on other songs. Perhaps by then, I’ll be able to land that transition to G a little better, not to mention the F.
This is strumming only because singing makes my strumming fall apart. I’m playing the intro, the verse, the pre-chorus, and the chorus once.

This is actually quite good! Give yourself some credit. Nice job! You should be proud of the work you put in.
and the guitar is really pretty!

@Alisa For 39 days, you did extremely well. Great strumming and fretting. I understand about getting tired of a song and I’ve often posted in order to gain permission to move on also. That’s a great thing, and you can always revisit the song later on. I do that quite often to see if I’ve improved. Congratulations on your first video post!! That’s a huge feat.

nice job! Was singing along til I realized I couldn’t remember all words. Started to play along til I realized I was still in Open G tuning! will retune & let you teach me this one! Kudos! Sounds awesome

Thanks, @Michael_Green 🙂 I wasn’t starting from scratch when I joined TAC. I wish I made a video, at least for myself, on day 1 to measure the progress.

Very nice job! My son introduced that song to me in the 90’s and it is on my playlist to this day. Your chords are clean and clear (I could hear the f fine). The transitions are a work in progress for anyone, and you are already doing it. Very good!

how well I remember struggling with that F chord when I first started playing guitar!! You’re doing great!!! Keep it up!!

Clear, Even, Controlled and great take on a really good song, @Alisa . And a first video besides. Truly, it is your “lucky’ number, and we look forward to much more. Well Done.
