Dear TAC friends, I played every day this week and caught up on all the daily challenges. I played every morning before work except once and that is a new high for me (literally and figuratively). Also, I have had my grandfather’s mandolin for many years and have done little to nothing with it despite my desire to play. Inspired by my TAC journey, I have started to take occasional, short lessons and can now play a couple of songs. It is a Gibson he bought used in 1972 for 95 dollars (he saved the receipt and it is in the case). I looked up the serial number and it was made in 1958 – the year I was born. Coincidence? 😇

@Loraine At this point I know 3 chords (G,C,D) and can play 2 songs (not well but it is still fun!)!

I love that your birth year instrument came to you from your grandfather.

@andy_e That is way cool. I had to Google the 1958 Gibson mandolin, and on one website there was one for sale. The price tag? $3.450. That was just one website I found. Wow.

@Ronlad, really? That is pretty impressive. I love the way it sounds and it reminds me of my grandfather – a twofer!
