Gobsmacked ! Actually got a review of my first EP
Posted by TMutter on February 9, 2022 at 10:14 pmDivide and Conquer is a promoter and reviewer of Indie artists. My first EP “Walking In The Rain” received a reviewer score of 4/5. Considering I had no idea what I was doing which created a heap of work for @BrandonK (who was noted in the review for his production) as we worked through environments, mics, positioning etc. Learned so much and forever grateful to the TAC and JMG community! New EP “Sentinels” will be released soon as well.

Congratulations! I gave it a listen on Apple Music. Great picking!

Thanks for listening. Really did not know how to finger pick until TAC!

That’s just amazing to me that you were able to “pick up” on a new style so quickly and use it effectively. I recognized a long time ago that basic skills can be used to great effectiveness. So right from the beginning of learning guitar, some people are able to make great music. As they grow and learn more skills or hone the basic skills, it just adds to their variety, their music changes and matures, but I’m not sure it really gets any better as it was great from the beginning. You seem to be one of those people. I love having you here in this community with us so that we can witness and learn from your path and growth.

I agree with everything this review says Terry @TMutter . In fact, if I knew how to analyze and critique music I would have said the same things. This article actually helped me to understand more clearly why I loved your songs so much. I am not surprised at all that he gave you a 4 out of 5. That’s a high rating. Bravo. I also agree with his ending. I look forward to what you come up with next. To me, it seems like you are a “natural”, whatever that means.

Thanks Mike! I appreciate how supportive you and the TAC family have been on this journey. I do have the benefit of many years of classical music training as a percussionist. That sense of rhythm and time translates very well to the guitar and certainly gave me a leg up.

Well that is a BIG win of course! Congrats. I listened to the 1st song and it does evoke the NW (I lived in Seattle for 10 yrs) … your voice imparts emotion and the lyrics impart a certain melancholy mixed with making the best of life and the obstacles that one may encounter.
And congrats on collaborating with your wife…that is really cool.
I look forward to hearing the rest of it.

@Tmutter, you are aware that many of us have encouraged and pursued you for this result. So great to see you in print, and to here the result proper mixing and mastering can have.
You encourage us to strive to be better. Sounds like it’s time to commence and EP collection with you, Cathy Belle and @kurt G all putting them out, and all of them pushing the same desires to move forward in me.
Congratulations Terry. So well done.

Great news. I saw this pop up on Just Music Geeks and was going to reply there but instead I’d just like to say that this is so well deserved and a credit to all involved back stage too. I assume you’ll release the next one on bandcamp too? How do you find that as a platform for releasing tracks? I’m interested.

Thank you!
I use Bandcamp as my main site and it is nice because you can put more data like background, statement about the album, lyrics, credits etc. I also use CDBaby as my distributer to other sites like Spotify and Apple Music etc. I am holding off promoting any of my music on the streaming platforms until I have more material out (it would be nice to if Spotify can get its act together). EP1 Walking In The Rain is on all the major streaming sites, EP2 “Sentinels” will be on Bandcamp within a week with 7 tracks.
EP3 “Same Table” (6 tracks), EP4 “Oh My Gosh (6 tracks) and 4 different singles are all in various stages of production. So – a lot of content will be coming out this year!

ha – forgot to mention that at the same time I need to keep focused on TAC to improve my chops because my current song writing skill inventory is out of “runway”!
I need more tools in my song writing box to come up with new melodies and structures.
