Have Guitar Will Travel
Posted by Guitargeezer-Jack on April 17, 2022 at 2:26 pmIt’s NGD again for me. “Out of necessity” this one is for traveling overseas. Got the Journey PJ410N Puddle Jumper as a discounted Reverb purchase this week. When disassembled it fits in an airline regulation-sized carry-on bag (it arrived in one). “Will enable me to practice at least 10 minutes of daily challenges when I am away from home.” That is the rationale I told my wife. She silently gave me THE LOOK:

Happy NGD Guitargeezer-Jack! 😀 Sounds like a great plan for overseas playing. Have a safe trip and keep on playing! 🎸

@Guitargeezer-Jack , I had to look up the guitar. That is really cool and the ultimate travel guitar! Keep on playing.

Happy NGD @Guitargeezer-Jack 👏🎂👏 I know “THE LOOK” well. She’ll get over it when you pull it out some quiet night over there and play some of her favorite songs – to brighten things up of course🤩🎼

Very nice. I bought a Klos with a removable neck for same reason, easily fits into the overhead.

Happy NGD @Guitargeezer-Jack ! Can you post a photo of it? I think it’s worth the extra $ if you know you’ll be away from home for an extended period.

@Loraine – per your request- photo of my “puddle jumper” guitar with travel bag (not sure photo transferred into forum)

@Guitargeezer-Jack Very nice! Smaller than I thought it would be, but then again it is a travel guitar. May you have many enjoyable playing hours with her.

It has extremely high string to fretboard action, especially up the neck when assembled right out of the bag. It has to be shimmed (those provided) to make it much more playable. I am finding it requires continuous tuning. It is what it is.

I’m headed over the Pond to France and Spain myself in May and have been anguishing over whether to take my Martin Backpacker or find a throw down at a shop in Paris. Where are you headed @Guitargeezer-Jack ?

That’s one I don’t know. Will have to look it up. It’s something that was worrying me for our motorbike tour of Scotland in August then, get this, my wife found a Washburn Rover travel guitar on Facebook Marketplace for me. I think I’ve won her over.

Have a wonderful holiday to Scotland @Moonhare (Darren)! My wife and I were going to Scotland on a chorus group tour in June but too many people got nervous about world events and so trip cancelled 😞

Congrats on your new Puddle Jumper Jack! I have a Journey guitar myself and they are really neat, even when you’re not traveling. Best of all, no one knows you’re carrying a guitar around, so it’s very stealthy. Enjoy your guitar and your travels!

Hee hee, @Guitargeezer-Jack That “Look” is present every time a buy another wooden box strung with silver wire. I found to @Bill_Brown ‘s point, the playing of favorites eases it’s severity over time. Travel happily and enjoy the play…n ride. sorry that may be a stretch too far.

I once had a similar experience. I transformed “the Look” when I asked her, what would you like to hear. “Home on the Range” actually, by the 3rd day of the trip had her singing along.
