I’m confused!
Posted by Chum on January 25, 2022 at 7:08 pmI’m on day 2. Am I supposed to practice “the blues baseline” for 10min? Or practice that and “the blues shuffle” in that time?

Hi @Chum ,welcome to TAC. The Blues Shuffle is about using your fretting hand fingers and placing them on the correct frets in the correct order to get the “Shuffle” going. The “Blues Bassline” is all about learning pick direction. The idea behind these lessons is to understand the basic concept presented in each lesson – it’s not about mastering them. If you have spent a minimum of 10 minutes, but maybe can’t execute like what you see on the play video, but grasp the concept behind the lessons, go ahead and mark them complete and move on – you can always come back to them at any time you want. Again, try for a minimum of 10 minutes. If you grasp the concept behind the lesson – weather or not you have trouble executing (playing it like you see on the “play” video) – it’s ok to move on to the next lesson. This isn’t about mastering the lessons at this point, it’s about understanding the concepts presented in the lessons and having FUN while learning. I wish you the best during your journey here at TAC👍

Hi @Chum , and welcome to TAC. 30 days for the challenge is just a suggestion. You can take as little or as long a time as necessary to get through the material. Therefore, whether you spend the minimum of 10 minutes on either the Blues Shuffle or Blues Baseline is up to you. You might decide that 10 minutes on one or both is sufficient to grasp the concepts and feel like you’ve accomplished what makes you happy with them, or you might want to spend more time on each. I personally played through the lessons at a slower pace and really tried to understand the material and to execute to some degree of semblance of what was being taught. This is your program. I do agree with @Bill_Brown that you can put your 10 minutes in and mark the lessons complete. However, you may choose to keep practicing it even after marking it complete, or you can always return to it at a later date. The purpose of TAC is to teach you a practice routine and fundamentals of guitar. It is not about perfection, but a program of progress. You will progress if you put a minimum of 10 minutes in per day, but that is simply the minimum. You can obviously play for longer if you desire. I tend to play in 10-20 minute spurts a few times a day.
Enjoy the ride, and keep on playing!
