  • Let’s hear it for the metronome

I usually can’t flat pick very fast. Today for the speed challenge I decided to use the metronome. I started out at a reasonable speed and then advanced the speed a few notches after I could play the challenge correctly. After repeating that process a whole lot, I eventually was able to keep up with Tony for today’s speed challenge.

Let’s hear it for the metronome.

Great win @Carl1909 . There’s a lot to be said about the metronome, but first one has to actually use it. I’m always amazed that if I start at a slower speed and graually increease the speed, that I’m able to play thinhgs I once thought impossible.

Yep, the metronome is our friend. I’m amazed after playing a song I know and then playing it against a metronome that I’m playing way too slow. Glad you are having good luck with it.

Congrats on making it through the challenge! 🎆

I was only able to get up to 125 bpm @the 5th fret, but I still feel pretty good about it. I usually max out at around 105, so that’s good for me. The back of my fretting hand still cramps too bad when I try to go fast @the 1st fret. I’ll keep at it though, just at a slower pace. One day it won’t hurt anymore.

Well done on getting that one done – Got to admit I was pretty pleased just to get to 120 BPM. That’ll have to do me for this time round!
