I didn’t even download an app. I do a Google search on “metronome,” and the one that pops up in the search results page meets all my needs. I use it frequently. Apps have lots of other features, but I don’t generally need them. I’m OK with simple clicks.

I really like the metronome in the tools of the ultimate guitar app. So much easier to use than the old-fashioned metronome I had as a kid when taking music lessons, that was bordering on child abuse 😂 you can set it to different rhythms, and you can make it as quiet as you like

I was just commenting on another post about the advantages of metronomes. I like a metronome separate from electronic devices but I don’t use the wind up weighted ones from days of old. I found a battery operated metronome with a wheel that lets me dial up the speed one click at a time. I hardly notice when I increase speed one position, two beat on slow speeds and 8 beats on high speeds. I rarely use the high speeds in drills, instead I will count two 1/4’s per click. It is made by Matrix: MR-600.

I use a battery operated Korg Metronome (model MA-30). I have been using this one for about 15 years or so now. I don’t even think I have replaced the battery yet… must to a combination of not “using” it enough or it is very efficient!

I use an app on my phone called Soundcorset. It’s like a Swiss Army Knife for musicians. It’s a tuner, it’s a metronome, it’s a recorder, it’s a practice time keeper. It’s available for both Apple and Android. It costs me like $4/year to remove ads. Well worth it. You can select a click sound or one of a bunch of drum tracks, which is what I usually do. I run a line out from my phone into my practice amp so I can use it at pretty much any volume. Works well for me since I’m a little hard of hearing.
