What i like about it is your conquering of alternating thumb and independent playing of the melody. That is my major goal and im still not there yet. Its like I can almost but not quite see the light at the end of the tunnel. Was there anything that helped you over the threshold in that style?

For me, I found a chord progression and a finger picking pattern that I loved so much I would just play it for 1/2 hour to over an hour, just that little pattern. It was a 4 chord pattern, round and round for what felt like hours on end.
It was the basic chord progression for Wonderful Tonight, not the whole song. I also spent a lot of time using the exercises Tony has. One of them is just the thumb hitting the different bass strings in some order. Then there is one with the thumb alternating with the index and middle fingers. Then there is learning the easy songs from the song vault. I never went past the easy songs because I didn’t like them enough, but the first songs are great exercises. I might go back to the song vault and start playing those songs again. It’s great practice and something you can do for quite a while, just go round and round.

yeah you are right. I just used a couple of the fingerpicking song vault songs but now Im tryto learn Fire and Rain and will try to make myself explore it daily til i make progress (or quit).

the thing I struggled most with was the A run with the alternate based note and descending chromatic. I just had to keep doing it. And it still trips me up

Watched this video– again– (I always do that– watch them twice)– and, again– found it to be something to I want to be able to pull off……. someday.
I like the “controlled” feel of how you played it. You play it like—- “cool”. Smooth. Solid.
Slightly different😉 from how I think I play most of the time- (movin’ all ’round in my chair, limbs and fingers goin’ everywhere- tongue stickin’ out— etc😜).
I’ll “get there”…… but I’m a ways off…….
LOVE watchin’ ALL of the TAC videos. Thousands and thousands of words of “reading/learning” are passed from one player to another in ONE MINUTE of video.
