Passerelle Pastorale – an original composition by Katherine S.
Posted by KatherineS on April 13, 2021 at 1:03 pmHi folks, here’s a song I just wrote, using a passerelle bridge on my Breedlove Pursuit Concert cedar top. I played the guitar part, then added piano, then “cello” and “kawala flute” on my keyboard.
Here’s the YouTube link, followed by the Sound Cloud link, as well as a demo video of myself playing the passerelle.

What a beautiful song and outlet for creativity, across instruments and mediums. Whilst watching I was trying to name the birds and plants although we dont have a few of them over here but we have their relatives. You’ve captured spring perfectly. I really enjoyed that! Well worth all the time I’m sure you’ve put into it. Thank you.

Thank you so much for your kind words! I really do enjoy composing and recording. Sometimes the songs just sort of write themselves and this was one of them. I adore watching birds and plants in springtime and the sound of the passerelle just evoked those feelings. So glad you thought so too! 🙂
P.S. Your dog is super cute.

She is a bit of a terror actually but I love her and she takes a good picture 😂
I didn’t know what a passerelle was until watching your video and then googling it. a really nice sound and I think it’s amazing how you can take the feeling of the changing of the season and turn it into sound like this. Without the visuals (which were great btw, I love going out very early every morning and listening to the woods waking up, there is no better sound than a blackbird chuntering/ singing before they go to bed) and the title I think I could have still guessed that you were implying spring with your music. Sorry for going on, thanks for sharing this.

Totally Awesome @KatherineS I loved the Ruddy Duck and the Red Meganzer and the strings and piano blended so well with the Guitar. This was a stellar creation my friend!!! Just beautiful and captured Spring to the T 🙏👋👋

Thank you so much, @Dan D#! Your sweet comments mean so much to me. I’m so glad you liked it. Ooh, Ruddies are my favorite spring migrants! At least as far as water birds, cuz I sure can’t resist a little Blackburnian warbler. I looked for pictures of birds that I see every spring. Hooray, thanks so much my friend!

That composition gave me chills it was so beautiful. And it definitely put me in the hopeful mood of Spring! You are so talented with your playing and mixing skills . Can’t wait to collaborate with you again.

Hi @KatherineS , that was amazing – “Really Truly” – you hit that one out of the park, grand slam style. The way the sounds and melody came together really (to me) brought out the true essence of spring, I could smell the flowers and hear the birds calling in my mind. But the video portion was equally enjoyable. You have composed a real GEM! I feel very lucky to have heard this. 🏆 🤩🤩 👏👏👏

Thank you thank you, all of you lovely people, I so appreciate your kind remarks. Knowing that it evoked springtime in your minds, even without pictures, makes me so REALLY TRULY happy. I have always wanted to express myself with music, and this little song in particular just felt like it wrote itself. Thank you for being so kind and supportive. @deagle, @LC_Smith, @fly, @Bill Brown, @Dan D# (geez I hope these tags work, I don’t know anyone’s handle anymore!)
@deagle, I’m eager to work on our next collaboration!
