puckstopper improv
Posted by Jonathandavid on November 10, 2021 at 7:03 pmI found this one challenging – tried to keep a steady relaxed bass drone and found myself ahead of the beat often.

That was a great improv Jonathandavid! 👏 It looked like it was complicated to play.

Nice job!!! Lots of finger work. Looks like you’ve been doing your finger stretches. I hope I will eventually get that kind of reach.
👏
-
Thanks, Rando. Tony’s lessons has certainly helped me stretch my fingers and use my pinkie more.

That was really nice @Jonathandavid 👍👍 The fingerpicking around “harmonized” chords creating melodies with the Em pentatonic notes, the base-line melodies – also Em pentatonic, and topping it off with the Em pentatonic melodies using single notes at the 10th/12th frets with the hi E & B strings – and mixing the chords again🤩 That was a well thought out classic blues arrangement 👏👏👏 Thanks for posting Jonathan, I truly enjoyed listening😎

Thank you very much for the kind word, Bill_Brown!

I’m with you on this @Jonathandavid ! Time keeping was tricky with the space between the chords… 🎶 The approach you used was very good by including a rhythm over the backtrack instead of doing more of a lead approach. Nice boogie woogie interplay 🙂 Thanks for posting.

Thanks JoeW! I like that song. MOJO has a feature on the new Let it be movie this month. Yeah George!
-
Yes, I really like the vibe of that tune. And I thought the new “Let It Be” got renamed to “Get Back”? The Peter Jackson documentary, I mean. I’m guessing you’ve seen “Eight Days a Week”, the Ron Howard documentary?
-
You’re right, Joe. I haven’t read thd MOJO article yet and i haven’t seen Eight days a week yet either. Is it good?

Very nice! I love watching these types of videos. They entertain and teach at the same time. I need a lot of help with the improvs and these help explain what we’re supposed to be doing. Love it!
