• Small Win / Lightbulb Moment

This is my 1st post – I have been dinking around with guitar for many years without much progress. (basic chords / 1/2 songs) . I saw Tony’s course and I decided to give it a try… I went thru the the 30 Days To Play and the Fretboard Wizard during the 1st Month and really enjoyed both. I have been listening to the Acoustic Tuesday pod casts and look forward to them every week. I was hesitant to jump into the Daily Challenges because I thought they might be too difficult for me – and I was afraid that I couldn’t keep up. I kept going back to the 30 Days and the Fretboard Wizard lessons but was getting kinda bored… I decided to take the plunge on the Daily Challenges a couple of weeks back and I have been on a tear ever since! I have been able to complete each of the daily challenges (sometimes a bit rough but I always make it thru). I add the lessons that I really like to my daily routine. LIGHTBULB MOMENT –> I now, finally, realize what Tony has been saying all along – just commit to 10 mins a day and see what happens when you get out of your comfort zone…. I now look forward to the Daily Challenge everyday and haven’t missed one yet. What makes this program work for me is the consistency, the community, the variety, and the ability view the lesson and print the music (learn both ways). I can definitely see my progress and I look forward to tomorrow’s lesson! 😀

Excellent idtrouthound. I started off well with TAC in Oct/Nov but then was worn out with work as we tried to meet a lot of end of year goals…now I’m on summer holidays I’m going to try to really test myself on those daily challenges. Good to hear it is working for you as I know it will for me too!

Thanks for sharing this win. Sometimes I feel overwhelmed with exercises and it doesn’t seem I am improving as quickly as I would expect. However, I am learning that once I move on to another exercise, then return to the one (I may not have mastered, the old one becomes easier and so, progress is happening even when it doesn’t seem so.

I agree, constancy is a must…especially when 10 minutes turns into an hour…

You’ve nailed it on the philosophy of TAC. Turn up, even if you’re not feeling particularly inspired, and it’ll filter into your playing. So glad you’re finding your pace and I hope to see you at the TAC 90 day progress party on Jan 5th. 🤟😎🎸 Darren (Moonhare)

@idtrouthound you expressed the essence of TAC very well. You’ve found the right path in your guitar journey by being consistent. The current and past weeks of Daily Challenges have been favorites of mine as they focus on blues techniques. Hope you have enjoyed them too. Keith, you have made a great start and hope you will join the Progress Party in January.
