Stand By Me (Bill Withers cover)
Posted by David_M_Dm on April 9, 2021 at 4:16 pmAnother song I recently learned. I’m working on all those around the campfire songs that everybody knows. The rhythm and flourish I used for the “call on me brother” section was the hardest to learn and get into timing with the rest of the song. Perseverance pays off and I finally feel comfortable with this.
Funny thing is I was trying to record a different song and I just kept messing it up over and over. So I took a break from that song and played this instead and did this in one take…not perfect but close.

David,
Love BW and this tune. Love your rendition. Like the way you changed up the beginning. Then when you hit Lean on Me and went to your upper register = money! So good! Also dig the lil percussive thing once you got goin.

Really enjoyed this, David, lovely performance. Your Guild sounds great, what model is it?

Thanks @DavidScoggins. My Guild is a F30ce. I do love my Guild and it is my go-to daily guitar. I’m finally getting my sound working. If you watch some really old videos on the old system before I got my room sound under control and before my current sound setup you wouldn’t think the Guild sounded this good.

Great version as always David. Enjoyed watching. Envious of your guitar room love the lockers for your guitars.

Thanks Fly. I love my guitar room and I find it very inspirational. It took me a while to take the room effects and to get it to a point that it stays clean and yet ready to play or record. I hate having chords running everywhere when I record. That guitar display case is my humidor. I live in AZ and need to be sure to keep them humidified.

Good job mate! Love your seamless transitions between chords beautifully done.

Love this song – Fantastic performance and vocals @david_m_dm. The timing and strumming in the ‘brother’ section does look challenging, but you nailed it. I can’t believe you did this in one take. I’m envious.
