The Wedding Song (12 string instrumental)
Posted by Marty73 on November 11, 2021 at 11:50 amThe Wedding Song (by Noel Paul Stookey)
I made two recording of this song. One on my Martin CEO 7 and the other on my Martin D12X1 12 string. Both are instrumentals.
I first started playing guitar on a 12 string Ovation 40+ years ago in a church folk group before I ever played a 6 string.
I’ve retired the Ovation and purchased a Martin D12X1 12 string. I haven’t played this guitar much and am still in the process of setting her up. This is my first recording with her. Hope you enjoy. 😊🧙♂️😎

Both guitars sounded great @Marty69 👍🤩👍 The 12 string sounded fuller, with a broad spectrum of sound while the 6 string sounded more focused and concise🤔 Great playing by you on both – I fulled around with my 6 string, trying to make some melodies to go with your playing😱 Thanks again for letting me jam with you😎 It was very enjoyable for me👏👏🎸

That was great Marty69! 👍Have you played it at a wedding before?
-
Nope, never have played this in public or any other song. I played it from memory. 😊🧙♂️😎

Great playing and really nice to hear the totally different sound you get from the 12 string. Thanks for sharing both versions.

Both sound wonderful. I have that 12 string, great value for the money, and I LOVE a CEO-7. Nicely done!

Thank you Dom, Hope you and mama TAC are doing fine. 😊😎

Had this song at our wedding almost 50 years ago. Brought back memories with these wonderful instrumental versions.

I think these 12 string and six string comparisons are fabulous. Please keep them coming!

Wow @Marty69, that was really cool and interesting to hear. I am not that familiar with the 12 string, but totally different feel especially when comparing both. ✌🏼😃

Thank you, yes it is. I started off playing a 12 string guitar years ago. Takes a lot of finger straight to hold down the strings so they don’t buzz. 😊🧙♂️😎
