I think I am finally getting it! I wanted to figure out the chord progression to “Honkytonk Man”. After fumbling just to figure out the key. Then laying out the Chord Matrix and Major scale, Using the 1st, 4th, and 5 degree for the chords. I could put it all together as…. 1 4 1 5 1, which in the Key of E translates to E, A, E, B, E. The most meaningful course so far, for me, is the Fretboard Wizard. I’m not good with it, but I am beginning to understand it. Just wanted to share incase any of you are hesitant to take the course. Now….. to figure out some solo note arrangements with the correct rhythm.

    That is an awesome win!!!

I am stalled out on this area of the course and figure I will take as long as I need to get it down. Besides the longer I take the better my ear will become at this. I find it hard to get enough quite time when I am awake enough to concentrate with kids in the house, but as it becomes more natural it won’t be as much of a struggle

Thanks, I was totally geeked. Make sure you take a lot of notes during the class to go back to. I swear I went over it a few times before I understood it. I finally had to put a “HELP” on community support to get through it. Now, I think I am going to keep trying to figure out simple songs so i can get a solo going.

Fantastic @cadgirl — That’s how it begins, and you’ll get better and better at it as you put it into practice.

Thanks, the key is to keep practicing it. Just the TV commercial jingles and then figure out a solo to it. I just feel so good about putting something together. I have to go back through the course to figure out a few things. But, at the very least it does make some sense now.

Thanks, it really has turned into a journey. I bought my guitar OCT of 2020. I thought I would be way farther along than I am right now. Joining up with TAC in 2-2021 really has helped me out. I was started to get bored of just learning a song here and there. Now I’m concentrating on different methods. The daily challenges are a great motivator to get me going in the morning too. But, yes, I was totally geeked when I could figure out the chords to the song. First of many, I hope.

Fully agreed!! FBW have opened up a world of new possibilities for me and simplified music theory (which was confusing and overwhelming) to a level which I feel I can apply to everyday music situations. Congrats 😁 and to may more musical discoveries
