Watching the Rain (short, original instrumental)
Posted by Philb on July 21, 2022 at 1:40 amI used the Tonewood Amp to add a little bit of effects to the sound. I’m not sure the phone picks up everything, but while I liked it dry, I thought a little Leslie effect sounded decent with this.

Hey @Philb I also went out and did some poking around by what your meant by “Tonewood Amp”. Pretty cool device. A great cross between allowing the guitar to breath and vibrate and then modifying the tones via the onboard electronics w/ the Tonewood. Thanks for mentioning that in your post! 😀 😎👍

Hey @Philb 👏👏👏 That was a nice original, I really enjoyed listening👍👍 I could “feel” the storm coming and leaving with the notes that you played😱 Awesome work🤩

Thank you all so much for taking time to listen; and the kind and encouraging words.
The Tonewood Amp is a lot of fun; and great to use at home for a quick and easy way to add some acoustic effects without a lot of equipment; using the body of the acoustic guitar as the amplifier to get the effects. It doesn’t really increase volume, but has a large variety of ways to adjust it for many and varied effects. I have a Guild with a curved back, and it will not work on that; but on a flat back it has worked great. I have enjoyed using it at times.

Hey @Philb ;
That was excellent. I really enjoyed that little instrumental. I felt like you really captured the feeling of “Watching the Rain”.
It’s not that hard to come up with some things that sound cool. The hard thing is to remember what you played so you can play it again. What you’ve got here is truly wonderful. Thanks for posting.

@MikeGaurnier , I have problems remembering where I put my coffee down at times 😉

In our house, @Cadgirl , when I’m walking around looking lost, everyone knows what I’m doing: looking for my coffee cup. 🤣

Thanks much! Yes; remembering sometimes is tough. I make a lot of lists, and write a lot of things down. I have limited capacity to remember music I learned to play from memory. Guitar tabs and lyrics are a part of my musical future I am sure.

Yep, @Philb I sure will. I have watched a few videos on it and it really does look interesting. It cost a little more than I thought it would. My main worry was how the heck it was attached? But, I was happy to hear it’s just magnets. It did mention adhesive? The video sounded like the brace that goes inside the guitar has adhesive that will secure the brace to the inside of the guitar. Is that correct?

@Cadgirl
Yes; the magnet you put inside it has four legs with adhesive pads on them. You do want to a practice run of where you will put it. Follow the directions, watch a video; it isn’t that bad. I was a bit tentative putting it in, not wanting to damage the guitar. You shouldn’t have to mess with that again unless removing it. It doesn’t affect sound when I use it without the amp and is light weight. It can be removed if needed without damage, just takes a little care.The device itself then attaches by the magnet. It does have two adhesive strips also, but they only recommend using one of them with the magnet. It is best to take it off after each use; which is easy and quick.

Hi @Philb , I think the amp is cool however don’t plan on buying one at the moment. I’ve got so much equipment in my guitar room I am not using and right now I would like to figure out a way to get some reverb playing live using my MacBook Pro my guitar mic’d with a Scarlett 2i2 interface.
Still.. you never know because that ToneWood is very cool. Stay tuned! 😎😎
