Wild Horses Cover by Christopher_H
Posted by Chris_H on March 27, 2021 at 10:18 pmSince we spent the week in TAC in open G, I decided to give this a go in open G tuning on the 12-string of my double neck Alvarez. I’ve been working on it on & off for a month or so.

Hello Christopher! Very nice cover! I think this was like one of mine; and with the forum changes; was missed by those who would have normally listened and replied; and so went down the list before it was seen. Nice sound on the 12 string. You did a good job!

Very good. Really enjoyed the open tuned 12 string which must have taken ages to get right. Thank goodness for modern tuners!

“Really Truly” @Christopher_H !
I agree with @Mike56 – you did capture the essence of the Stones version, and very well, I might add. I couldn’t help but notice in the video what looked like another guitar neck under the 12 string – are you playing a double neck? Or was that some kind of reflection (I don’t think so). Can you please tell us about that guitar. Enquiring Guitar Geeks want to know!

Bill, that is indeed a double-neck. It is a 1980 Alvarez Yairi DY-87 I bought used back in 1983 I believe for $550. I have had her for 38 years now.

Very nice cover Christopher – well played 12 string and a perfect voice for that song. I have a 12 string Alvarez (Silver Anniversary model) and am looking forward to the day I can match the quality of your sound.

Nice one @christopher_h I really enjoyed that. Really felt the song and could tell you was into it. How do those 12 strings work is it the same as a 6 string you just fret two strings at once to get a richer sound? I’m struggling with 6 strings, I only have 5 fingers. Thanks for sharing this
