Now that you’ve learned Arkansas Traveler, try playing it along with one of these backing tracks:

Just watched the duet version of the backing track that looks like so much fun!
coolio
Tony is a great teacher. If I forget something I can go back over and over again. If I want him to repeat something he never gets made. This whole courses great!
Never gets mad.
Finally. I just about nailed it on fast speed! Just a couple of slightly duff notes but time to move onto the next song. Great stuff!!
Thanks for the duet – that was fun, fun, fun! Looking forward to working on the faster speed. I’ve almost got it!
I noticed in the final measyres of the B part, you often play it as a 16th note triplet plus an eighth note versus four straight 16th notes as written in the tab. It’s not a big deal – either sounds real good. There’s a lot of room for some improv soloing here. It’s a neat arrangement that looks like it will take only about 3 hours total rehearsal time to be ready to record.
Seriously what a challenge! Fun to play with the backing track.
since learning this I’ve got a hankering to go to Arkansas!
go figure……
🙂
A nice tune, Tony. Thanks also for the duet and the backing track. A real added value!
Bart,
Glad you liked that!!!
Cheers,
Tony
Love the backing tracks! I most enjoy playing along with the duet track for this tune and Swallotail Jig. Would love to see a duet track for Red Haired Boy if y’all have time to make one! Thanks for adding these!
Tony,
Glad you dug this one!!! I will be adding some duets and context to future lessons and then once I have the format I will start to add those to the older lessons 🙂
Cheers,
Tony
I really enjoyed this song Tony! It would be great if you could add more of these backing tracks and/or duet with the song! I realize it is time consuming but I have to tell you that it keeps us in time and a joy to hear the background music! Thank you!
The backing track is awesome!
Ron,
Glad you dig that, it has been fun adding these backing tracks 🙂
Cheers,
Tony
You guys were looking at a visual metronome when you guys recorded the duet?
Sean,
Good guess, but I was looking at the arrangement, and Joel was checking out the chord chart I made for him 🙂 I wanted to make sure I played the arrangement exactly like I taught it 🙂
Cheers,
Tony
Wow, nice duet guys! That looked like fun, and Joel plays some solid rhythm. I actually did some bluegrass improv over the top of that. Hope you keep adding these!
Something that comes across — playing by yourself is pretty cool, but playing with other people is really special, We all need a duet partner.
Mark,
Glad you dug that addition, and that you found it helpful with a bit of an improv session 🙂
Cheers,
Tony
The backing track is a really good addition. Thanks Tony
Roger,
Glad you dig this, it is fun to have the context of the tune right there so you can experience it 🙂
Cheers,
Tony
