  1. One of my first lessons on TAC last year was 12 bar boogie blues. This time round SO much easier. I actually enjoyed it! I’m looking forward to the rest of the week with this lesson.

  2. I was sitting here thinking “wouldn’t it be cool to play the boogie woogie in all the major keys so I have figured it out in E, G, and A so far. I’ll keep us posted on the other keys.

  3. I realize I’m probably breaking the laws of physics but I like to give this a little more minor sound by playing 0-0-3-4-2-2-4-4-5-5-4-4-2-2-4-4 instead of 0-0-3-4-2-2-4-4-2-2-4-4-2-2-4-4. To add a little more spice I also play it as 0-0-3-4-2-2-4-2-5-5-4-4-2-2-4-4 but that’s just me being me. This is a lot of fun to play and I find it next to impossible to play it straight or square eighth notes. This is so much fun I could play it all day but after three or four times through my hands are getting tired and I’m making more mistakes.

  4. At first I thought, this is going to take a while, but I find when I print out the tab(music sheet) and follow with that while returning back to the play and lesson,it helps me progress easily.Fun!

  5. Pure fun! I wanted to stay on it until I got it perfect. Never reached that but did include a slide from the 2 to the 7 and then back down again, kind of cool, improvising a little.

  6. Fun Boogie Woogi-ing on the cold day in MI started @ 6 degrees above zero, went to Church mary’s Immaculate Conception, then to Tim Hortons for breakfast then, grocery shopping. I am tired!

  7. I was a little surprised but that went really well, my muscle members is growing each and every day that I play and my pick accuracy as well. That is my big win for the day!

  8. Yay! A FUN week that began today! Lovin the Blues and lovin’ the Boogie! I find when it seems so familiar, it goes much easier! Impressed that I’m able to move around on the frets so much easier than when I first began. The process works!

  9. This was almost like riding a bike, until I got to measure 9 and the turnaround (lol). I’ll come back to it later today. Small win, though, for the muscle memory to kick in! TAC works! Hope y’all have a great Monday!

    1. Tom, hand in there. If you are just starting out all of any guitar lesson will be confusing. Every week take at least 1 of the offered skill course lessons and you will improve every day. just don’t try to conquer the world with every lesson. Try to take away at least 1 positive thing away from each lesson. When I started out and knew absolutely nothing about guitar i was bummed out more than I was happy. If you are a perfectionist you will need to accept the concept of learning at a pace that will advance your picking a little every day. The term small wins is used a lot on this site. Today you struggled for a half an hour but you did learn something you did not know before you started. That is a small win. As CCR says keep on chugglin.

  10. Ok, day one was more like 30 minutes, but fun and I trust the process.
Things I wished that I’d now before starting this, the 1st video, how to hold the pic, how to open the tablature… I think I’ll open the tab on the iPad and the video on the laptop.
Thanks for a great 1st lesson!
p.s. If you slow the video to 0.5 Tony sounds like he’s had a stroke

  11. All pretty easy and sounds pretty good. The B section I have to use my index to ring on the 4>5 and 44>66 as my pinky doesn’t reach. The last measure I’m kind of confused as to how he does that “slide out” from the 7th fret. Even watched it twice. To get a good descending slide I put my hand over the top of the neck; I don’t get any slide sound from the bottom the way we normally hold our fretting hand, even pressing hard. Or, I can do a pull-off to the open E to get the same type of musical descent, but it’s not as cool.

  12. This week is going to be fun after last week which I found really difficult on the pinky ( old arthritic hands dont help the cause!) . Going through Fretboard Wizard at present and whilst much is way over my head the chord tones leading in to the scale patterns makes more sense now.

  13. I just noticed this is the same chord progression as “In the Summertime” by Mungo Jerry. I think that’s wonderful…

  14. I always like to break out the LTD AP-204 Bass when these lessons roll around again.Fun to hold down the low end for a change.
FW is a remarkable resource.I am on my third time through, and you always do pick up something new each time you take it!

  15. I signed up for fret board wizard after delaying it a year. I am glad I made the plunge. I am so much better at doing continuous 8th notes. It’s good Tony gets us into different timings, like the turn around.

  16. Last week was so tough, it’s nice to have a break with this one. Got it quickly which leavers more time to keep practicing last weeks challenge. 39 days into TAC and starting to notice real improvements

  17. Not sure if this is my first time through this lesson . But, if it is or not, I am faster and finger placement is much more accurate.Have a great day everyone.

  18. I am really excited for this week’s lessons. Tony is 100% correct; the FW explains it all. I just finished the FW course. I do the course twice a year, and learn something new every time. (A man never steps in the same river twice) I hope everyone is doing well, and I can’t wait to read the comments.

  19. If you rest your palm lightly on the top of the bridge you will really be boogieing. It gives the tone that slightly muted and hollow tone.

  20. Did we just take this a few weeks back? I’m so old and forget so much that i could be wrong. Fun anyway whether we went over or not.
