Ok, this is wonderful. This must have been one of the original videos because it works differently than what I’m used to. However, I have been practicing using the video as a metronome and the tab as a guide. I have actually gotten to the point where I can play these 2 bars along with the fast video consistently. Yah! I might actually get this if I keep putting in this effort and I do it consistently. 🙂
Do I have to download the entire lesson to get the step by step? From the messages below I got idea you were fixing this so we didn’t have yo do that but I 1) am not seeing the step by step and 2) can’t seem to download. Please help!!! Thanks.
Hello Tony!
Unless I download the entire lesson I cannot see the step by step lessons as well as speeds. I tried in 3 different browsers to no avail! Any you suggest I do?
Hi Tony,
I am going back to the basics. I can play this song, but I noticed something is wrong with my beat. Just redid lesson 2 and man was I off. I had always stopped at medium speed because I didn’t think I could do the 120 beats per min. Now I am not moving on until I can keep up with you, or close to it. Anyway, all the songs that have been marked complete will be redone. Should have followed the layout, I would be much further along.
Dan
Dan,
No worries at all, I am glad you are going back and polishing those tunes up, great job!!!
Cheers,
Tony
I’m so happy you are reshooting this lesson! I need the more detailed approach you use now where you play and explain at the same time. I really benefit form the pinch, thumb, pointer, thumb, middle explanations . When it comes to fingerpicking, I need those training wheels! But that’s why I’m here! Thanks Tony!
Karol,
I am excited to reshoot these as well 🙂 I was viewing some of the old lessons and I think I can be a bit more clear now 🙂 I am happy to provide the training wheels!!!
Cheers,
Tony
Tony, I just started watching this song lesson and I’m missing something. You’re talking about the count (1, 2, 3 and 4 and 1 and two… that part). I’m lost…sorry. I understand you’re talking about the beat you are playing with your thumb, but I’m not sure how to see that in the tab, or to translate it into my playing yet.
Sorry if this is too basic a question. The whole independent-thumb-while-picking-the-melody is my stumbling block right now on learning fingerpicking songs like this.
Joe,
No worries at all, no question is too basic, this is a great question. When referring to the timing you can’t see it on the tab line of the music, but just above in the standard notation line you will see the musical symbols which will help relay the time. A quarter note (dot and stick is one beat) and a pair of eighth notes (two dots and sticks joined with a cross beam) constitute a “1 &” beat. I hope this helps explain, if it doesn’t just shoot me an email and I can help with some more examples 🙂
Cheers,
Tony
Hi guys,
any chance you could split the video up into 3 separate videos with slow medium and fast like i have seen on another lesson. it is taking me ages to get the rythem for some reason and need the slow section on a loop lol.
All the best
Rich
Rich,
Thank you for your comment, we actually plan on reshooting this lesson come the new year. When we first did these full lessons we only did two speeds, now we have a much more comprehensive approach to the song and we need to bring these ones into the fold. Keep your eyes peeled in the first part of the new year.
Cheers,
Tony
Thats great!
Thank you very much for getting back to me 🙂
I look forward to it because this song is driving me crazy and its meant to be easy!! AAAGGHH!
All the best
Rich
Rich,
No problem at all!!!
Cheers,
Tony
I would comment the same as Richard.
Aaaaggghh!
But I love it! I want it sooo bad.
Half way through.
Thanks again Tony. Great choice of song.
Sylvain,
I am glad you dig this tune!!! Keep after it and you will get it for sure!!! It has long been one of my favorite tunes 🙂
Cheers,
Tony
