  1. As an alternative, you can play the open A in the bass at the same time as you hammer on to the C# (2nd fret B-string), so that they sound simultaneously. That has the advantage of keeping the rhythm going in the bass.
On the other hand, skipping that bass note on the first beat of measure 10 might give it more rhythmic interest.

  2. I don’t know if a peek inside my head helps anyone but here’s how this section is working in my head.

    1. Measure 7 beats 1, 2, 3 is the first phrase.

    2. I think of beat one of measure 8 as part of the slide. So the second phrase is String 5, fret 2 (i/2 beat), then slide to fret 7 (1/2 beat), then the low E open (1/2 beat), then a 1/2 beat pause.

    3. Then, while that low E is ringing and providing a glorious pause, I barre strings 1-5 to get my hand set, and play measure 8 beats 2, 3, 4 as the third phrase.

So the section is phrase 1 (3 beats), phrase 2 (1 1/2 beats), 1/2 beat pause, phrase 3 (3 beats).

    Anyhow, it works for me.

    1. I am working on this right now. I was handling the advanced level of picking just find – but working on this one has been tough. I am sticking with it though. Sounds like you have things under control with it. :).

  3. Wow, feeling pretty pleased. I think I can finally execute the slide and the bend. Not quite in time yet, but we are getting there.

    1. Michael,

This is outstanding news!!! This is one of the toughest parts of the tune, to hear that you are doing it is really excellent!!! The timing will come for sure, keep up the good work!!!

      Cheers,
      Tony
