I remember cement mixer and traffic cones; that was a while ago, definitely before June, so that’s why you’re not finding them. The list of dailies changes every month. Best thing to do is jump in on this week’s lessons; then, you’re doing the same lesson as everybody. The ones you missed while doing the 30 days course will pop up at some point again.

I am sorry to hear about your mom, I hope she will recover soon. It is wonderful that guitar playing is playing a healing role here, there is something magical about making music together, we connect on a level that words can’t reach. Thank you so much for sharing this personal story, I’m sure it will bring strength and ideas for constructive coping for many people who read it.

I thoroughly enjoyed that 😀 I was also mesmerized by your fingers: so many chord transitions…

Great flatpicking! You’re keeping a good consistent tempo. Like others have commented, it’s great that you’re not looking down, that keeps your posture nice and straight. It’s a higher learning curve not to look so I often do, but I bet you’ll progress much faster because you’re building muscle memory with your pick. Do you feel a difference when doing the boom-chicka strumming and have to switch base notes? That’s where the looking backfires, in my experience.

Also, the pick direction discussion between you and @dr_dave was super helpful.

I’d recommend buying a good quality classical guitar with nylon strings instead of putting nylon strings on an accoustic. The nylon strings won’t ruin the accoustic but I doubt if it will sound good. They are not set up for such low tension, you’ll probably have troubles getting it tuned. I’m not an expert but I think that’s the reason why classical guitars have more distance between the fret positions, because the strings are much lower tension. I don’t see how you’d make it work on an accoustic. I might be wrong here, if someone is reading this and thinks “that’s BS” please correct me.

Anyway, buying a classical guitar is a totally legit and justifiable move, different feel, different sound 😁

Thank you for sharing Marky, your story of a year of joy, fun, and guitar obsession is inspiring 😁 It’s great that your wife is supportive of your journey and reminded you to post

That’s great! Great small wins on having fun and learning the fretboard. I love Wednesday for that. There’s no such thing as playing the wrong notes when you improvise, if it’s a bit dissonant just call it “modern” 😂

It’s great that you succeeded in remaining consistent when life threw you some curve balls 🙂 That is a great small win!

I think if you purchase it when you sign up for this website, you can take it at your own pace anytime. But if you don’t, you have to wait until they open the registration. Once you buy it, it’s yours forever so you can do it anytime. That is what I gathered from other members’ comments. I’m a bit obsessed with it; I want to have access so bad.

The administrators told me they will open registration soon, once the website troubles are done. That was back in May and it looks like they fixed the website, so I’m hoping any day now. I’ve heard from other members that usually it runs twice a year in the spring and in the fall, so I suspect we’ll have to wait for the fall.

Lol Mark we have stuff to do 😁 In my case, the 10 minutes counter starts when I hit “play”, not including the lesson. So between tuning the guitar, listening to the lesson (often hitting pause and rewind) and the actual practice, it’s closer to 20-30 minutes. Some days it’s more, I’ll often do several small sessions during the day on a good day, thay will probably add up to an hour or more. If you’re playing 80 minutes while not feeling joy and not having fun, maybe let up on the routine a bit, give yourself some breathing room. In his intro video Tony talks about how setting goals of 1h a day can kill the joy of playing, hence his 10 minutes system. Sometimes it leads to more, sometimes it doesn’t. Hope that clarifies it.

Thanks @jumpinjeff, I think the lesson learned here is not to pay attention to the streak counter 🙂 Numbers on websites are not the goal here
