Friday Night Live – It Had To Be You
Posted by TimK1 on June 26, 2021 at 6:38 amHi folks…here’s the song I shared last night during the Friday Night Live Open Mic…an old chestnut, ‘It Had To Be You.’
Hope you enjoy it…
Cheers,
TimK1
Using my new-to-me Aston Origin mic on vocals which I am just loving! Fantastic sounding mic for a pretty reasonable price…managed to find it used (but mint!) for 1/2 the cost of a new one. Very happy about this purchase!

Love the casual lyrical approach you had, letting the song breathe and the words sink in. Nice love song of a simple heart. Probably why it is a classic.

It was wonderful listening to you last night. Even more so today! Really nice, Tim. Thank you!

Listening to this the 2nd time around was even better than last night. And the voice is special. You reflect your vocal training well!
-
@TimK1 I loved sitting in and listening to you and everyone else perform last night.
This was one of my parents favorite and brought tears to my eyes listening to you play. My days start very early and i usually cant keep my eyes open past 7. Last night listening to you, Brian and everyones performances was a real treat for me.
Thanks for recording it so i have the pleasure of listening again.

Nice job Tim. I love the way you do the song. Makes me want to do it as well!
Is that a CEO-7 you’re playing?
-
Thank you @Forrest A! Glad you enjoyed it…I got the music out of one of recent issues of Acoustic Guitar Magazine in the Cowboy Songs section.
Yes, I was playing my CEO-7 for this one…it’s quite a versatile instrument although I’m probably parting with mine shortly to cover something else that’s coming.
-
Parting with your CEO-7?? Tell me it ain’t so. Wish I had known on June 15 when my Guitar Center 45-day return period was up and I decided to keep my 000-15SM — I might have reconsidered. Maybe. (Well maybe not. I do like my hog.)

Hi Brian…I think you made a great choice with that 000-15SM. I’ve heard they’re lightly built and just great guitars! I hope you’re enjoying it 🙂
I’ve got a used Martin OM-18 1933 Authentic VTS on its way that I’m hoping will take the place of a couple instruments in my collection but to pay for it, I’ve got to part with a few things. I’ve sold a ribbon mic and cloud lifter but a couple instruments will have to go. The exchange rate is a kicker but since its a used model, the savings is worth it. What with the customs process it might take 2 weeks to get here…such a long wait 🙁

I enjoyed your playing, singing and song choice. Just saw “When Harry Met Sally” last night – coincidence! Thanks for the pleasure.

I thoroughly enjoyed that 😀 I was also mesmerized by your fingers: so many chord transitions…

@TimK1 I LOVE this performance, You play and sing it very well. Perfect song for you.
Thanks so much for the inspiration!
